We ate with friends on both a Friday and Saturday night recently and we could not have been made more welcome! The food was excellent and everyone we spoke to, including numerous staff, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our friends were staying from the US and we turned up, not having booked, and still received excellent service and fabulous food. Highly recommend the vegetarian oatcake with Brie and walnut or the burger! We were a party of 11 with 6 kids and a puppy! - so not the easiest group to accommodate but The Crispin did it admirably! We will definitely be back and we strongly recommend it to all. A proper country, dog-friendly, village pub who offer all you could want!Excellent!

The Bull's Head Inn Foolow Restaurant

We (couple with triplet daughters aged 10) ate at the Bulls Head Inn two evenings in succession whilst staying in an AirBnB cottage in Foolow. There’s a great atmosphere, excellent service, and the food is fantastic. We worked our way through the specials menu and would highly recommend the pub to others. There are outdoor tables overlooking the village green and dogs are welcome inside and out (except in the dining room area).

The Anglers Rest

This is the 2nd visit we have made to the Angler's Rest. We first went in Feb 2019, and returned again Aug bank holiday weekend. What I like about this pub is it simply offers great pub grub, at fair prices served by friendly staff in a nice atmosphere. Also location wise, it is perfect to tie in with a walk along the Monsal Trail. My kids love to do the walk along Chee Dale (with the stepping stones) and tea at the Angler's Rest afterwards works well.My son is a fussy eater, but really enjoys their burgers. My other son loves his chicken nuggets and the Anglers Rest serve up a good quality version of those. My husband had the ploughmans and he was really pleased with the portions and variety of cheese and salad. I had the steak, ale and mushroom pie and it was full of meat and very tasty. We were too full for desserts so can't comment on those. We are already booked to return to Derbyshire again in Feb 2020, so no doubt we will have a meal there then!

Red Lion at Litton

The Red Lion gives you excellent proper pub food; unfussy, tasty, superbly cooked. The steak and ale pie with crumbly shortcrust pastry a triumph. Liver and onions great flavours and cooked just right. Accompanying vegetables perfectly cooked. Sticky toffee pudding home made and tastes so. Light but full of the right flavours (ie not just brown sponge you get many places. A full room on a Thursday lunchtime with wood fires adds to the atmosphere.Ignore the reviews who complain about no children under six; the policy is really clearly signed, and contrary to posts, dogs on a lead are welcome. Make no mistake this is a place to come to.

This pub looks lovely from the outside and the staff are really friendly. A group of us visited recently and we all agreed that the food was fairly average and not as good as the other pubs we'd visited in this area. The staff made a lot of mistakes with our order and we ended up not all eating at the same time which was quite uncomfortable. The decor inside was charming and rustic but I agree with a previous client that the loos need attention. Maybe they just had an off day but all in all given how many excellent eateries there are in this area we won't be visiting again.Thank you for writing your TWO reviews, although I would have been perfectly happy with the one. However It's quite impressive that you seem to have each others feedback pretty much word for word. It's fairly obvious that a copy and paste situation occurred with just enough little changes to the odd phrase so that TripAdvisor didn't pick up on it. Very ingenious.I'm sorry to hear that our team made a few mistakes that day. I don't know what went wrong, we have recently been doing some training, but in your own words, "Maybe you got them on an off day".I was aware that the loos did take rather a heavy weekend during that bank holiday, and I'm not really sure what had gone wrong with the cleaning rota, but I can assure you that it will most certainly not happen again. I will be watching much more closely.I can't rally pass comment on anything else as there's not much to work on. I am sorry that you have decided not to return, but am happy that you are happy with other pubs in the area as two of them are also mine.Thank you for your review ('s).Rick

This place had a deal on, 2 & 3 courses if ordered before 18.30, plus cocktails were 2 for £10 before 18.30. £19.95 for three courses and plenty of choice for each course, I found it difficult to pick as all dishes on the menu looked so nice. All three courses were enjoyed by us all. The cheese board was . Would recommend and will definitely be back.
