For 46 years, the Lunenburg Art Gallery has given us an exciting parade of fine art by Lunenburg County artists and distinguished professionals from across Canada and the United States. For eight months of the year, March – October, the Gallery is open to residents and visitors, providing us all with quality exhibits and programs. The Gallery has established an admirable reputation as a focus of our cultural life. This is a remarkable achievement for a volunteer group in our Heritage Town of approximately 2800 people. The Lunenburg Art Gallery was founded in 1972 under the auspices of the Heritage Society. Lunenburg Art Gallery was established initially to provide a home and display area for a collection of paintings by the noted artist, Earl Bailly. It has evolved into an independent non-profit society with a current membership of 185.

Two Halifax born fine artists, trained at Nova Scotia College of Art, opened the Joseph and Tela Purcell Family Art Gallery in year 1970, in Lunenburg Town, Nova Scotia. The gallery, a two hundred year old restored building, stands at the corner of Lincoln and Duke streets. It displays an outstanding collection of Purcell original oils, watercolours, giclées, prints and cards.

Artistic Relations - Sharon Fox Cranston, Guy Cranston and Toller Cranston. Sharon paints the colours and rhythms of the Nova Scotia land and seascape. Guys wire and metal sculptures are stories in the making. Unique, bold, whimsical, Toller's oil paintings reflect the personality of the Artist. dis.cord gallery was started for the love of art, in all of its forms. Located in the heart of the waterfront district of the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, its distinctive all-black building with red doors was originally built in 1873 and has been an important fixture in the town for nearly 150 years. Known for its world-class curation, dis.cord has one of Canada's most interesting edits, including paintings from historic Canadian artists (the largest private collection of famed Nova Scotia artist, William E. deGarthe), contemporary paintings from established and emerging local artists, pieces from award-winning Nova Scotia sculptors, antique blanket boxes from Lunenburg County and vintage objects from around the world. The studio space around the back has a sweeping ceiling and plays host to live music throughout the summer. Pass by on a weekend and you’re likely to hear jazz, rock, bluegrass and folk floating out.
