The lady running the gallery on both occasions we went in could not have been more helpful in assisting us with our purchase. She arranged several large picture in different parts of the gallery so that we could see them in different light conditions. The gallery supports a number of excellent local artists and the result is an eclectic mix of art forms that complement each other so that there are things to indulge every taste. The best gallery in town by a mile.

Finding this gallery was an unexpected highlight of a recent holiday. The art was much more appealing than in many galleries I have visited. The gallery had a mixture of three exhibitions running plus pictures by artists they often stock. There was some very atmospheric work there, in a range of different styles, all interesting, high quality work. The prices ranged from under £100 for some prints, to about £200 to £2000. There were also cute copper ornaments for £20. The owner was pleasant and we had a relaxed and enjoyable visit. Will definitely look in when we are in the area again.

Strachur Smiddy Museum and Craft Shop

A small museum with craft shop. The museum is a working Smiddy with traditional fire forge, anvil, bellows and a wide range of blacksmithing tools dating back hundreds of years. At weekends there is a local blacksmith who demonstrates how to make traditional items such as pokers and toasting forks etc.

This is a unique museum, one of the best I have been fortunate to visit. The Smiddy has been renovated in such a manner that it as it was many years ago. I can confirm this, as I came with my Father (aged 90) who remembers well helping with the bellows when he was 9 years old! Unlike so many museums, this one feels alive, and as though you have literally walked through the door and stepped back in time. Terrific for children as hands on. We were made so welcome and the tour was perfect. Thank you
