Zak's Jerusalem Gifts

Goal oriented. Zak’s ideas and drive come from a threefold vision. He desires to offer high quality, rare antiquities and fine art pieces to pilgrims in the Holy Land that are not only a good value but will be treasured and a part of their own family history. He desires to support his family and build upon the heritage that his late father left and to bring jobs to Jerusalem and surrounding.

We wandered into Zak’s shop during our trip to Israel. He is warm, welcoming and his knowledge of ancient antiquities is impressive and fascinating. He has all kinds of ancient treasures in his shop like pottery, coins, jewelry and Roman glass from Biblical times! I purchased beautiful earrings from him, made with fragments of Roman glass dating back to the Roman period 2000 years ago! He provided me with the certificate of authenticity for each of the earrings I purchased from him. I was thrilled when I found out he has a website. I have since ordered more items and gifts for family and friends from his shop online, including beautiful Olive Wood ornaments hand crafted in Bethlehem. If you are looking for something special for a loved one, check out his website! You don’t have to travel to Jerusalem to shop at his Zak’s, however if you find yourself in Jerusalem don’t miss this hidden gem in the Old City! Zak is trustworthy, his prices are fair and items purchased from his website always arrive quickly. I highly recommend to everyone!

I came to this store in Tel Aviv well prepared to purchase a beautiful hand made menorah made of bronze that the store keeper had talked about. She was very generous in price and educated me in Israeli art history with items that are both antique and contemporary. Wonderful experience!

On a trip with my wife to Jerusalem, I was very interested in finding a unique, historical antique relic to bring home with me. After reading several promising reviews on Trip Advisor about this shop, I was very eager to visit it. To say the least, it was a gem full of priceless treasures! We spent a lot of time in the shop talking with the owners (father and son), discussing the history behind many of the relics and looking at things we were interested in. Not only were they very professional and knowledgeable about everything, but they were also very patient and took their time talking to us about each relic we were interested in. Not once did I feel like they were pushing us into a sale. Our conversation with the owners was very enjoyable; they are very good, trustworthy people. After purchasing the relic we were interested in, the store owners gave my wife a beautiful necklace with a snake as a gift. It was a very unexpected, but heartwarming gesture. If only we had more time in Jerusalem, we would have returned to do more business with them without a doubt. The relic we purchased had to be delivered internationally to our home. Despite the circumstances surrounding the current pandemic, the store owners did everything possible to make sure our package would get delivered to us in pristine condition and on time. I highly recommend Bassam Barakat Antiquities to everyone!! Jacek and Alicja

Tamara Gift Shop

Reviewed By SaraMMcL - Washington DC, United States

I first found Tamara Gift shop on a trip to Israel in early 2018. Mo, the owner, helped me to select a beautiful pair of earrings, Roman glass set in silver, for my 24 year old daughter, who loved them. When my daughter visited Israel i. July, of course she went to find Tamara Gift Shop and meet Mo, and purchased another pair of earrings. Last week, I visited the shop (back to Israel and Tamara Gift Shop again!) and Mo helped me select a gift for my mother, silver earrings and a pendant of Roman glass set in silver. The selection is very good, the prices are competitive, and Mo is very helpful in finding just the right choice. Each pendant/earring set is uniquely made by an artist/jeweler, so don’t expect to find the same earrings wherever you go. I highly recommend this shop. Mo is a very kind and hospitable host, and you will feel comfortable visiting his shop (not pressured).
