Amfiteatre de Tarragona

Reviewed By Vic_VDB - Tamworth, United Kingdom

The sun shone, the sea sparkled and the place stunned with its size, history and amazingly well preserved site. It’s one of the most stunning things I’ve seen and the churches that followed on this Roman site only added to the whole experience. You can buy a multi-site ticket for this and many other Roman sites for what I think is a paltry sum for and immense experience. Well worth a visit

One of the best preserved roman ruin in Europe. Unmissable. See it together with the ampitheatre next door and be sure to read the notices which explain very well the djfferent gladiators who fought there.

The most attractive feature of Avila. Very well maintained formidable walls. For five euro, you are given access to parts of the upper walls for a great walk.

Ruins of Empuries

Empúries is one of the finest historic settings in Catalonia. Two cities, one Greek and one Roman, set by the sea at L’Escala on the south of the Bay of Roses, named by Unesco as one of the most beautiful in the world.

Reviewed By MesaGrandJunction - Grand Junction, United States

What a beautiful and fascinating location - right on the sea! There are 2 cities - the Greek city closest to the water and the Roman city above it. The mosaics in the Roman city are amazing, and the museum has some very well-preserved mosaics and sculptures. The audio guide, which is included in the admission price, is available in many languages and really helps you picture life in Empuries.

Archaeological Ensemble of Italica

Amazing place to visit and it’s free to EU citizens. Need the local 170 bus from Seville bus station (they run every 30 mins even at weekends) not the 170a as that’s the express that doesn’t do the stop right outside the archaeology site. Great colosseum to explore and you can walk around in the arena. It’s a weird feeling. This was one of the main cities of the Roman Empire-and centre of the olive industry. Hardly advertised at all but well worth a visit.

An essential visit to get an idea of the Talayotic civilization. I recommend visiting near sunset with comfortable shoes. A small entrance fee of 3€, it's worth all of them.

Circ Roma

Reviewed By pnetster

This place costs 3.30 per adult and it is money well spent, information in English french and Spanish really gives you a great insight. Steps up to the roof give a great view and the recreation of roman chariot racing was fab. The site is much larger than the building you enter so get ready to walk!

The castro is located near the top of a mountain. It is an excellent example of an old celtc settlement and the views from the top of the mountain were great, including a view of A Guarda.
