Also one evening was a complimentary aperitivo with drinks and snacks, this was very well organised and very nice. The location is great, just minutes from the beach and town centre. Note they do not have a pool in the hotel grounds but the pool is only a couple of minutes walk away. The pool is open to the public and shared with other hotels, but the Luxor does have an area where beds are reserved, so even though the pool was very busy there was never a problem finding beds. Room service was good, rooms are brightly decorated and were always clean. Con’s Generally, the inconsistency of the food. Don’t be fooled by the management pictures on TripAdvisor. The food is generally below par. Sometimes very good.... sometimes average and sometimes just very bad! The first night we had fish. Unfortunately it was terrible and tasteless... the hotel is next to the sea... what a shame! Cold desserts were often sitting out on the buffet and not properly chilled. Once we took a tiramisu and it was actually over room temperature getting warm! One night we were sitting for dinner and two guests near us were eating totally different food to everyone else (real grilled seafood... ) we asked what they were eating we were told its from a 'different menu... special order'.... which no one told us about or didn’t exist anywhere!?! What is that, preferential treatment to friends or regular customers…. or just really poor running... because absolutely no other special menu options were offered to us. Once day chicken arrived under cooked (actually pink in the middle) (and note this was for a child also)... we asked if they can put back on the grill they replied ‘yes if you want it well done we can do it’... (well done?? Its chicken!!) :-) Another day, chili con carne... absolutely no flavour... just salty tomato source and mince... literally... that was the ingredients and taste... also it was supposed to be tacos... but actually only arrived with half a dry tortilla... Another day, we ordered deep fried prawns, sounded great... but they actually left the shell on the prawns! So if you bite into it you get the shell... never ever have we seen this before. You don’t leave the shell on deep fried battered prawns… ever. Although our deal was All-inclusive note there was not even coffee included... not only you cannot have your coffee at the table after the meal... you have to leave the table and go down to the bar. Very strange. We raised our concerns, mainly based on hygiene... many covid rules were broken around the hotel, staff and buffet. The management wasn't interested and was defensive. This is a major mistake from a hotel management not caring about the clients. I have stayed in hotels all around the world and never once had such a defensive reaction... nothing worse than when the management think they are better than the guests and have no interest what guests thought.... their initial response was offering to get our luggage and said we can move hotels! If you are not so interested in good food then its fine, but for us enjoying nice food is part of the vacation. Remember during peak season this hotel is very expensive and for sure the price does not align with the overall level of quality on offer.

The owner and staff genuinely go out of their way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. It is a very good value for the price. Great place to go with the family.

Retro with a modern twist
Reviewed By Roby-I-2016Have been going to this hotel property every 2-3 years over the last 30 years and prior to that my grandparents used to take my father to this resort. While it is now a very long trek to get there from Canada it continues to always be worth the effort. Our last two trips also included our children (then 4 and 1). I describe the city to friends as a throwback to the 1960s Hamptons. The city comes to life during the summer months. The downtown is a pedestrian only area and is a great place to grab a gelato after 8 PM. The beach is run as a business, but unlike the Caribbean, it is a very pleasant experience given your lounge chairs are assigned to you for the duration of your stay. The Wi-Fi access is very convenient and is free. The owners of the Benini go out of their way to make sure you have everything you would need and that everything is to your liking. They treat you like family. I should point out that you are in a remote part of Italy and therefore speaking Italian or German is a great asset and will make your experience significantly better . The receptionist does speak some English. If you drive to the hotel from Rome or Bologna, the hotel does have some limited parking which they make available to you for free. The hotel has several bikes available for your pleasure which comes in handy as the town is great to visit my bike. The food selection is excellent and changes daily and we do not get bored of the variety over the 2 1/2 weeks we usually stay. I could speak about all the positives for hours and cannot think of any significant negatives to share. Remember that you are in Italy at the beach and it is a great jumping point for daily trips to other attractions.

So disappointed
Reviewed By 133333We booked a room for 3 nights to celebrate our special wedding anniversary and informed the hotel of this. I specifically booked it as it had a pool which I need due to a chronic back problem but on arrival I was upset when Roberta told me the rooftop pool was just for relaxing and only for swimming and that I would have to pay extra each day to use the spa!! Our room was boring and very small so I asked about an upgrade and reminded them that it was our anniversary. The hotel was not busy according to Roberta. Roberta spoke to the manager and offered us another room at a €20 a night increase. It was even smaller but had a small sea view so we agreed. The rooftop pool area ‘to relax’ only had seating for 14 people which is ridiculous considering they have so many rooms. You have to pay for parking but can park free in the surrounding streets but it’s very busy. The WiFi in the rooms was very hit and miss but ok in the reception. The breakfast service was managed by Michaele and was excellent, As was Anna in Reception but overall very disappointing.

Reviewed By StephenT621The hotel was very nice and great value. The staff was very helpful and we had a wonderful view from our patio, the A/C was excellent and worth visiting. The hotel provided bikes for free and we rode into the beautiful town and had an excellent meal.

Reviewed By BaffidiGattiGreat location, quiet but right in the midst of things, near the beach, outdoor hot tub was well worth the extra spend, great pool (little cool at this time of year but who cares), lovely room, loved the design, comfortable bed, great nights sleep and the food...lovely. Dinner is always a nice surprise, you know you are going to eat well here. Breakfast is always good, ditto. Also cater for vegetarians. Half board is a good deal, the food is light but excellent, staff friendly, really almost can't fault it, what a gem. My only complaint would be the 10 euros to use the spa. If you are already paying (a lot) to stay at the hotel this should be free!! I also paid to have a massage whilst staying at the hotel. Had they invited me to use the spa facilities they would get 10/10. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, I didn't want to leave, it really is superb, but they need to make the spa free for guests.

Reviewed By Fred BWe had just finished the first stage of the Mille Miglia and had a fantastic evening at the hotel bar. The beer was cooled, wine was on the right temperature and the choice of whisky was great. Staff was quick and friendly and breakfast was just good.
