Things to do in Yorkshire, England: The Best Wineries & Vineyards

December 19, 2021 Brandee Mangan

Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

Received a voucher as a Christmas present and had a thoroughly enjoyable morning at this delightful vineyard. Fascinating and informative tour by our passionate, dedicated and engaging host, followed by wine tasting and accompanying snacks. Would also highly recommend the light lunch option, which catered well for us as vegetarians. The Covid infection control measures were also of a high standard and we felt safe and comfortable throughout.

Holmfirth Vineyard

Visited today after getting a Vineyard Tour voucher. Easy to book online and we booked a table in the restaurant for lunch after. Nice bacon sandwich and hot drink before the tour, which started on time. Dean, the guy who conducted the tour was great. He was informative, engaging and had a good sense of humour. Tasted 3 wines made there, all of which we enjoyed. And unlike a previous reviewer, the wine glasses didn't bother us! Had a lovely lunch on the terrace. Staff were all so friendly and helpful and social distancing was maintained throughout. Enjoyed a glass of Holmfirth Solaris wine and bought a bottle to take home. Thank you everyone.
