Things to do in Yorkshire, England: The Best Civic Centers

October 7, 2021 Alice Mieles

Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

The Floral Hall

We came for breakfast at 9.30 on Sunday morning and were surprised how busy it was! This is a place that is doing a really good job. Lots of choice (veggie breakfast, herbal teas); excellent ingredients (meaty tasty (non veggie!) sausage), very clean and tidy, lots of extras (books, beach stuff, hand-made cards for sale, binoculars to see the ships out at sea). Our first visit but definitely the first of many!

Very delayed in posting this review however I have only just noticed it’s on Tripadvisor. Me and my husband had our wedding reception here in June 2015, we hired the woodkirk room and senior suite and it was absolutely fantastic! I know most couples would say this about their wedding day but it really was brilliant! Staff were lovely and could not do enough for you. The booking of the room with the wedding coordinator was easy and it was so reasonable in price! Would definitely return here in the future. Thank you!
