Wreck Point Scenic Lookout

Reviewed By debbiemann56 - Yeppoon, Australia

I've run around Wreck Point every 2nd day for 20 years. Cars have always stopped to take in the great views - up and down the Capricorn Coast and across to the Keppel Islands. It's a great spot for tourists to get their bearings. Almost everyone, including long-time locals feel compelled to slow down, or stop every time for the incredible views! There have always been rough paths around Wreck point, but they were not 'safe' for everyone - and as our population grows, it is great to see a family friendly, three-tiered track down to a few, new, interesting, informative monuments that were built by the service clubs. It is great to see a proper parking-lane there now too! Perfect for the 10 mins or so people need to check out the topography, walk down to the 2 lower monuments and take their pictures.

Fan Rock Lookout

Reviewed By 993anitat - Forster, Australia

We went for a walk up to Fan Rock Lookout. The track is well paved with lots of stairs. There are two lookouts, the first looking back to Bluff Point and the other North over the Marina. Views are spectacular and it is well spending the 15 minutes to take a look, a distance of 700m return. At the lookout which looks towards Bluff Point there is an incredible fan rock which was formed when the lava cooled. A very interesting and unusual volcanic rock formation. The bush which you walk up through is also lovely. While you are at Double Head it is also worth taking the short 200m return walk over to Pebble Beach. Again nice views.
