Well maintained respite in suburbia -- with bush, playground, field, barbecue, walking paths -- its a delightful, though small, suburban retreat. Thanks to all who keep it that way.

Box Hill Gardens

Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

Box Hill is a residential area 14 km (9 miles) from the centre of Melbourne. Box Hill Gardens are a pleasant place to relax, not far from the Box Hill Hospital. The lake hosts diverse kinds of water birds. In the 1890s, Box Hill was an outer suburb dominated by bushland. Many young Australian artists spent their holidays and weekends here gathering to paint among the gum trees.
