Clayoquot Sound is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Major inlets include Sydney Inlet, Shelter Inlet, Herbert Inlet, Bedwell Inlet, Lemmens Inlet, and Tofino Inlet. Major islands include Flores Island, Vargas Island, and Meares Island.
This area of the World is spectacular. We are fortunate to live in Nanaimo, just a short drive away. We were just here for a couple of nts. (B.C. officially inCovid Phase 3) to shake off the isolation cobwebs... a day's kayaking w/ Tofino Sea Kayaking gear & guide was just what we needed. We took in the amazing vistas, listening to the sound of our oars cutting through the water. Our guide, born & raised in Tofino, was SO informative that we came away with a much grater appreciation for the area, history & people. Up close & personal tour of Clayoqyot Sound is not to be missed when visiting the area. We loved seeing a bit of local wildlife too .. timid harbour seals came up to our kayaks to see what we were all about & eagles flew overhead in abundance.

The beach is nice soft and sandy. The river is fun and can get quite deep. The kids love jumping from the rock ledges and if you are really brave you can try the rope swing into the river!!!

This scenic patch of waterfront is the location of Victoria's many tourist attractions, recreational activities, restaurants and shopping. For a special treat, have afternoon tea at the grand Empress Hotel or board a ferry for a harbor tour.
The Inner Harbour is the highlight of any visit to Victoria. Its a perfect place to walk around as there is a pathway around the whole harbour. From here there is a wide selection of shops, restaurants and bars and is the perfect place to watch the float planes and cruise ships visiting the harbour. Here you can watch the water taxi's travelling around the harbour and people out rowing in the harbour. From here you can walk to Chinatown and the main shopping areas, visit the museums and view historic sites like the hotels and Government buildings, Its a perfect place to watch the sunset , and a walk around at night reveals stunning views of the parliament buildings lit up at night

We went for a long walk with our dog, it’s an off leash beach. Pretty around there, fun and great pictures!

Maffeo Sutton Park, named after Peter Maffeo and Joe Sutton, is recognized as the city’s “signature park” exactly because it is a large multi-use recreational area. Here, you can enjoy scenic views, get in some cardio on the Harbourfront Walkway, watch the little ones play, and enjoy many a nice picnic on grassy hills under the relaxing shade of trees. The Park represents a sea of calm in an otherwise bustling and busy Oceanside city. If one is looking to escape the hurly burly of daily life, a stroll through Maffeo Sutton Park is just what the doctor ordered. What can be more relaxing to the soul than admiring the beauty of nature – its trees, ocean and sea life – concomitant with the joyous laughter of people partaking in Nanaimo’s natural beauty? For me, Maffeo Sutton proved to be an enjoyable hour+ stroll along the Harbourfront. I was able to watch the seaplanes take to the skies; observe fishermen as they tossed their crab traps over the designated “crab dock”; analyze and enjoy the unique public art displays throughout the park; and watch folks enjoy the Swy-a-Lana lagoon area – a manmade “lake” that allows people (especially youngsters) to enjoy the ocean in a safe and steadfast way. The park truly is a beautiful space and should be a “must visit” for anyone in the Nanaimo area. After you’ve had your fill of Maffeo Sutton, why not continue along the Harbourfront Walkway and enjoy some Island Farms ice cream at one of the many charming shops along the pathway? I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a great way to spend a sunny summer’s day to Ol’ PookyCake!

Cameron Lake is just stunning. The magnitude of the mountains and trees you’re surrounded by is so beautiful. It is a rocky beach and rocky lake bottom so I’d recommend water shoes. I wish I had some. Bring beach chairs or something comfy to sit on. Crystal clear water. Directly next to highway, can just pull onto side of road. Love it here

This park is small but perfectly adequate for a neighbourhood park. There are big rocks to climb on to look across the bay, there are small tidal pools, a few benches to sit on to enjoy the view and also a small swiming stone beach area to take a dip in the ocean. Lots of locals utilize this beach in the summer. I went there today and there were strong winds and therefore significant surf....it was beautiful and a perfect way to blow away the cobwebs of a busy week.

A gem of a lake! This lovely little lake is really a hidden treasure! A small but nice sandy beach area, the lake is perfect for swimming and soaking on your water mattress. Great for water fights too! There are areas to sit and relax for a picnic and you're surrounded by the 5km Ed Nixon Trail, a beautiful walk around the lake. You can fish here too for stocked Rainbow trout. There are three access points in total to the lake and all have good parking.
