Things to do in United Arab Emirates, United Arab Emirates: The Best Concerts & Shows

January 16, 2022 Myesha Cogley

Nomadic tribal heritage and modern society co-exist in the UAE, a federation of seven emirates at the southeastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Look beyond the desert that consumes four-fifths of its area and you'll find UAE capital Abu Dhabi, an oil-rich city of skyscrapers, parks and malls, and Dubai, with its split personality of luxury resorts and covered marketplaces, upscale boutiques and local artisans. For a break from urban sprawl, journey over rolling red sand dunes into the Hatta Mountains, where the 200-year-old Sharia Mosque sits amid 30 restored buildings of sandalwood and mud.

Dubai Opera

This is a show not to miss in our iconic opera house. This review will not be relevant soon so hurry and get tickets. It is a fantastic musical performed at a very high level. When you get the chance to see this so close to home - go! Parking at P3 is super convenient - and we were back in the road less than 10 minutes after the show. Dress code is relaxed and the afternoon show has a mix of shorts and evening dresses and it works. We use the opera regularly and it is one of the best additions to the Dubai scene. The building is stylish, tastefully decorated and could do with more space surrounding - to enjoy the architecture from the distance.

Have been 3 times, once was amazing, second was very good and last time was still funny just not quite our taste of humor for a couple of the acts but would always recommend trying it out. They hold comedy nights in various locations, personally I prefer the Grand Millenium as it’s slightly bigger and seems more organized. You have to come a little bit early to buy tokens for food and drink. Drinks prices are reasonable (ish), food seems like fun fair food so only ideal if you’re starving!

Imagine

IMAGINE is Dubai Festival City's record-breaking new attraction, which offers unique sensory experience, harnesses the power of light, water, and fire, combined with giant aqua screens, 30 fountains and surround sound to connect with audiences and produce a show like never seen before.

We happened to grab dinner at the Festival City Mall twice during our trip to Dubai (Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen) and between those two dinners caught 4 fountain shows. All different. All great! My favorite was the one with the dancer. The largest water projection screen in the world, the use of lasers and fire...my entire family enjoyed it all. All of the special effects makes it far more entertaining than the Dubai Fountains at the Dubai Mall. We ate around 6:30-7:00 and had no problem being seated right away outside on the terrace where you had great views of the fountains. I suggest timing your dinner with the shows bc you could see the crowds of people below on ground level straining to see the show. Definitely go!

It's a spellbinding show. Very rich visual effects coupled with amazing sound and performances by the cast - acrobats, bike riders, dancers etc etc. Production values are phenomenal. There was never a dull moment and we had to strain our eyes to capture the visual feast. Definitely a must watch show in Dubai.
