The Great Rift Valley divides Kenya down the length of the country and we were driving in between those rifts at some point of time of our journey. It is home to big cats, elephants, Grevy’s zebras, and endangered Jackson’s hartebeests. Before the mud-road meets the highway at Loruk town, we made a small photo-stop at a viewpoint overlooking Lake Baringo – the freshwater lake known for different species of birds, crocodiles, and hippos. I love The main attractions of the Great Rift Valley the wonderful national parks and safari opportunities enabled by the wealth of wildlife.

Bird watching excellence. Numerous water species along the lake side; thousands of Lesser Flamingos, groups of Pelicans, Egrets, Storks and in the trees and brush above the lake a variety of colourful birds. A shallow lake, in a few spots are information kiosks erected by local businesses.
