A half hour fun boat ride through the mangroves takes you to Monkey River village where you head upriver into pristine rain forest. Expect to see crocodiles, huge iguanas on tree branches sunning themselves, turtles, and many species of tropical birds. Upriver, your licensed guide will lead you into the rain forest in search of howler monkeys. Nothing you read could prepare you for the adventure of hearing these monkeys for the first time...you just have to experience it! On this mellow hike, your guide will also point out the different plants and trees many of which are used as medicine by local bush doctors. As your hike through the jungle further from the river you may spot gibnuts (now known as royal rat since Queen Elizabeth dined on it), deer, ocelots, peccaries, tapirs, coatimundis and agoutis. Buy a genuine Kriol lunch at Miss Alice’s restaurant in Monkey River before heading out on a manatee watch on the way back to Placencia.

My husband and I had the BEST time snorkeling at Silk Caye! The staff at Splash were incredible and made us feel so safe even as things start to open back up after the pandemic. They were so nice and knowledgeable and answered the many questions I had as a first time snorkeler! I will never forget this experience - I have never seen water that blue in my entire life. I am already trying to find a way to get back and do another trip with them. Thank you, Splash, for the unforgettable memories!

Our guide Paul was extremely personable, relatable, knowledgeable about historical and contemporary facts about Belize and provided us with exemplary service and an unforgettable experience. When we arrived at Xuantunich Paul took us to each of structure offering insight as to its significance and purpose. He also assisted us with taking photos and answering any questions that we had on the archaeological site. Cave tubing was extremely fun and Paul ensured that we were safe, having a good time as well as gave us a history lesson on caves in Belize and how they related to the ancient Mayan civilization. After tubing my sister and I enjoyed a beverage we purchased from a local vendor who placed rum, coconut milk, fresh juice and melon into a half pineapple. Paul was kind enough to let us stop at a grocery store within close proximity to our AirBnb. He also provided us with restaurant recommendations and familiarized us with the general area that we stayed in. Private Belize Adventure provided an excellent tour and an overall amazing experience. Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value My husband and I were in Hopkins for 7 days with my son and his fiancé. We scheduled tours and activities for almost every day we were in Hopkins. Greg was the driver to get us to the tour locations. We never had to wait for him. He was always there when we were ready. He was very knowledgeable about Belize and we often learned more from him than we did on our tours. He went above and beyond for us. We enjoyed our travel time with him as much as we enjoyed our tours. The last night of our trip we did the bioluminescence tour with Medz. OMG! It was amazing. It was obvious that Medz truly loves sharing this experience. It was a privilege to spend time with Greg and Medz. We loved all of the tours we did and Belize will always have a place in our hearts.
