Sun Creek Lodge

A blend of traditional and creative ways of natural living in the tropics combined with modern conveniences welcomes guests this "Naturalist's Paradise." Round, thatched cabanas are dotted throughout this "Garden of Eden," far enough apart that there is privacy. The spacious cabanas, made of hardwood walls and traditional mayastyle-thatch, are elegantly furnished with hardwood furniture, lots of windows (complete with screens and curtains) and colorful linens.

Rustic Glamping in the Jungle

Reviewed By BackRoadBruce

Sun Creek Lodge provides a rustic get away in the jungles of southern Belize. Family run, the place is beautifully set. I stayed in the Parrot cabana, which was airy and nicely furnished with multiple beds, table and chairs, a fridge, and a coffee maker. Electrical outlets were limited, so a large party would need to share. Breakfast is included with the stay and was excellent. Other meals can be arranged by request. Wifi coverage in the cabana was spotty, but is good in the main lodge. Each cabana has outdoor bathrooms and showers, which are a bit different and may not appeal to some. They were more than adequate for my needs. Sun Creek is right off the Southwest Highway and easy to find with good signage. You do get highway noise until about 8:00pm. More irritating are the neighbors barking dogs and crowing roosters, but that's par for the course in Belize. There is no A/C in the lodging. The Parrot had no ceiling fan, but did have a floor fan. As I said, this is more rustic and that's the intent. The location is excellent for visiting Punta Gorda, Lubaantun, Nim Li Punit, and other local attractions. The family and staff was courteous and helpful with lots of information about local sites and activities. I had a very pleasant stay and would stay here again.

So Lucky to Find Beya!

Our Air bnb fell through at the last minute and we were so fortunate that Beya had a suite available. What a wonderful place- overlooking the water, but also with a view for sunset. Lisa and her staff were so nice, helpful and accommodating. Delicious Belizian breakfast! We met Gomier next door and he cooked us some amazing dishes. I only wish we could have stayed longer. If we ever return to this area, we will probably skip Air bnb and go right to Beya. Thank you again for saving our trip. Stacie and Matt.

Lovely lodge surrounded by nature

The Lodge at Big Falls is a little bit of paradise in the jungle. My cabana was private and comfortable and just steps from the river. The meals were delicious and healthy with fresh ingredients. Our group was fortunate to have time with Steve Choco, a fantastic birding and nature guide who works with the lodge. Steve took us to numerous locations in central and southern Belize. I highly recommend this great place for anyone who wants to get away from the beaches and tourists.

Off the grid and absolutely fantastic !

I just returned home from this wonderful lodge on March 14. We spent 7 nights there as part of an all inclusive fishing package. This is truly a memorable experience. It’s an eco lodge in the rain forest on the Moho river. If you’re looking for a beach vacation with all of the usual posh perks, this isn’t for you! If you like a jungle cabana that’s clean and comfortable with ceiling fans and mosquito netting ( didn’t really need the netting to be honest ), waking up to the sounds of jungle birds and howler monkeys , afternoon naps on your hammock , wonderful organically grown meals , and the best staff ever, book a week here! Valerie at the front desk is the captain of the ship and will do anything to make your stay more memorable. Roman, sandy, pops, Armando are all wonderful. Make sure you get a spa treatment from Kimberly and by all means walk over to the butterfly enclosure! Rachel Martinez is only 16 years old and will give you a tour and share her passion for butterflies with you! I will definitely go back to this enchanting and very authentic lodge !

After traveling Belize for about a week we decided to land in PG for the night. We have had good experience with this place before so we decided to go back. And the room we had for 80$ Bze was way better than what we have had elsewhere in the country. The room was clean, nice two double beds, tv fridge microwave nice clean good working toilet and shower and great internet, and all in the middle of town. With a secure place to park the tental vehicle as well. We asked for a late check out and this was no problem for no additional fee. Friwndly people, great quality. Especially after the stay in Placencia this place was a welcome change.

Amazing Hospitality and Kindness

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our stay at the Farm Inn so I can only trust the other reviews on how amazing the location is. However, Renee reached out to me to offer any assistance she could and I can only imagine how her hospitality extends to those who do get the opportunity to stay. Hopefully, we will be back one day and I can meet in person.

BlueBelize: THE place to stay in Punta Gorda

Reviewed By RonaldG273

If you need a place to stay in Punta Gorda, look no further! Stay at Blue Belize. My spouse and I just spent an amazing week in PG at Blue Belize. Our host, Paul went above and beyond in ALL respects. He has training as both a professional hotelier and a French chef and IT SHOWS, in all great ways. The place is spotless; his breakfasts, which are included, are works of delicious culinary art—different every day and made from local, fresh ingredients; he even made us a to-go very early breakfast on the day we left. I made our reservation by contacting Paul via phone/WhatsApp and communication was easy including calling in my credit card to him. He was very responsive any time we had questions and is full of local knowledge. He even did our laundry! There are free bikes which are fun to use and helpful to go shopping at the fresh produce market and grocery store. Word of advice: bring ear plugs since the birds wake up at 5 am, and there are a lot of dogs all over town that like to bark at night.

The best stay I have had anywhere

Reviewed By Bahamaskayaker

I have done a good deal of traveling in my 65 years, I honestly can't recall having had a better stay than the one myself and 3 friends had at Hickatee Cottages. The setting of these is beautiful, smack in middle of tropical forest with butterflies, squawking parrots, woodpeckers and numerous very vocal Howler Monkeys. The cottages are exceptional, well built and well kept. The food was outstanding and plentiful ( you may need to go on a diet when you get home...) But what really made this experience truly exceptional and memorable is the owner, Allison. She is an incredibly warm & charming host who goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need to make your time in Southern Belize a great experience. When we arrived a bit late after a long day on the road a tasty local meal and cold beers were waiting. She arranged all of our breakfasts and dinners. She booked local guides for fishing and snorkeling at the Snake Cayes, and also a river tubing trip with a great Mayan guide the mountains with a stop at a local restaurant afterwards. Anything you might want to do or experience in the area she can set up because of her extensive connections throughout the area and strong ties to the local community. We had five nights at Hickatee but to do the area justice and unwind I'd suggest at least weeks stay. Although we explored a good deal; swimming in various waterfalls and rivers, visiting several Mayan villages, there was still lots more to do such as seeing cacao and butterfly farms, and getting a guide to go birdwatching. Anyway, when moved on to Caye Caulker we all felt a pang of homesickness for Hickatee the laid back life back in the jungle. My suggestion is that if you are doing the cayes and the jungle it might be wise to visit the cayes first and save the best for last. Finally, an anecdote to illustrate how well looked after by our host... Because of a snafu one of my friends was not able to get a refill for a critical medication before leaving for the trip. We scoured Punta Gorda's pharmacies for it but as feared it was not available. When Allison heard this she quickly called around Belize City and managed to locate the medication. When we dropped off our rental car both the meds and a taxi ride to the Caye Caulker water taxi was waiting. Above and beyond... P.S. - I almost titled this review, "Allison Ruined Our Vacation!!!" because she treated us so well and gave us such a wonderfully pleasant experience that the rest of our time in Belize, although good and without any unpleasantness, was by comparison a let down.
