My husband & I just came back from a week vacation!We booked this tour, it was well worth it! It was a nice kind of private tour, only two of us and two other ladies!Our guide Darcio,he was so good of the history of Azores!We learned so much of the cultural & history of the inland!And the lunch and all the stops he brought us to were amazing! Wine & cheese tasting with a gelato yummy ice cream at the end! Highly recommend this tour and ( Darcio) for your guide! He also took some great photos for us!

I had booked this tour well in advance and was looking forward to it. There I was, waiting to be picked up, as arranged, outside the hotel. After 20 minutes of no-show, I phoned the number and was informed that Algar de Carvão isn't open on Mondays, so the operator had cancelled the trip. This incompetence ruined my trip to Terceira. The tour operator should obviously not accept bookings for days when attractions are closed. I could easily have planned to do things differently had I been warned in time. I asked for a refund over the phone - after all, it was the operator who cancelled, not me - but so far it has not been forthcoming.
4. Angra do Heroísmo On Foot
If you like culture, history, visit buildings built in the 16th and 17th century, and know more about how is living in the Azore, this is the perfect walking city tour for you. The tour is in the morning, takes 3 hours, and tickets to visit the museum, Governor's house and the cathedral, are included. The pickup time at the hotel is at 9h15.

My parents and I spent a marvelous day in February 2020 touring Terceira Island with one of the most informative, outgoing and welcoming tour guide I have ever encountered VitorAguiar([email protected]). He provide an extensive tour around the island and ensured that all the locations we visited and activities did were geared to our needs. The tour started when he picked us up at our hotel and ended in the evening when he dropped us off at the hotel. Duuring the tour he went above and beyond our expectations. He even brought us to his house where he and his wife introduced us to the local porto wine. After we expressed an interest in buying some wine he drove us to a supermarket where we stocked up on some wonderful wine at an inexpensive price. To this day my father enjoy Portuguese wine with his meals . Vitor's private tour around the island was a really enjoyable welcome to Terciera. It is definitely value for the price.
6. Angra do Heroísmo Food and Culture: Half-Day City Tour
Moved by a passion of food and history we decided to combine both and make our guests even more happy! This tour takes us around Angra do Heroísmo, the first World Heritage Town in Portugal and also the already capital of Portugal for two different times. It's not just sightseeing and learning, it's also understanding why food is a big part of our day to day life and how it affects us. First, we will start by having an amazing breakfast with some of our incredible pastry, joined by some good coffee. We will also try our famous Portuguese Cherry Liqueur and understand why it's such a beloved beverage by all of us. Finally we'll have our famous Alcatra, a pot roast stew, but this time the Fish version! If you happen to don't like fish please let us know in advance and we'll ask for the beef.
Inclusions: We are starting our tour with a taste of Terceira Island pastry and understand why the Portuguese Navigators and their spice route had such a big influence on our gastronomy., We're trying our famous Portuguese Cherry Liqueur, a drink as old as the 12th century., We are having our famous Alcatra but this time the Fish version! Please notice the biggest part of Portuguese fish dishes are served with bones.
