Things to do in Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg: The Best Tours

December 5, 2021 Roseanne Arnett

Surrounded by one of Germany's largest wine-growing regions, Stuttgart beckons cultural junkies with its acclaimed ballet, opera and philharmonic, while auto fans get revved up over the Mercedes Benz Museum. There's more green space than urban sprawl in the festival-friendly city, home to Europe's largest zoo and botanic garden combo, the Wilhelma. The WŸrttembergisches Landesmuseum, in one of the city's oldest structures, traces area history from the Stone Age. Buses or subway provide handy transport.

Martin Luther is NOT the same historical figure as MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. Germany is not the same nation as the US. Martin Luther was the great GERMAN reformer of the 1500s. Martin Luther King Jr. was the great civil rights American reformer of the 1960s. I keep trying to help this organization, but they don't seem to worry about trivia like historical facts.

The name of my boutique-style chauffeur and limousine service is "a friend in heidelberg". Many guests of mine told me that this very name is the perfect choice. The stops mentioned under "Itinerary" are possible destinations of our tour. I am more than happy to compose an individual tour, which is based entirely on your preferences and wishes. I was not only born in the famous historical city of Heidelberg and know the area extremely well, but also lived and worked in the US and hence speak fluent English. If you wish I can help you with the organization of your trip ahead of time. You will be chauffeured in a Mercedes S-Class, virtually a private jet for the road, equipped with all state-of-the-art features.

Inclusions: WiFi on board, Private transportation, Air-conditioned vehicle, Parking Fees, Soda/Pop, Bottled water, Coffee and/or Tea

Exclusions: Travel exceeding the mileage allotment of 20 kilometers per hour will be charged with 1.00 € per kilometer.

If you want to visit the homeland of your ancestors, Manfred Pitz is the man for the job! We were in Germany in April 2019 while on a Viking river cruise. While others in our group visited Heidelberg, my husband and I hired Manfred to take us to the Palatinate to see the town where my great-great grandparents lived before moving to the US. Manfred was able to locate the minister of the church were my ancestors were married, and we were able to tour the church, which normally is locked on weekdays. He contacted distant relatives who operate a restaurant that carries my family name, and arranged for a private lunch for us. My distant relatives do not speak or read English, and Manfred served as translator throughout our visit. (Manfred has lived and worked in the United States, and his English skills are excellent.) Thanks to Manfred, our visit was the most memorable part of our vacation. The name of his company, "A Friend in Heidelberg" says it all. He is more than a chauffeur. He is more than a tour guide. He is the consummate professional and a dear and true friend.

The game itself was really fun. The only hangup we had was it was advertised to be offered in English. The entire game was in German, even after we selected English. The game was still fun, as we used Google Translate for the clues and to navigate the game.

This tour is the classic beginner's tour for those who want to know more about Stuttgart and also offers a lot of fun for locals on the Segway. On the Classic Tour we drive to the most famous sights of the Swabian metropolis, such as the Stuttgart City Hall, the Palace Square or the state parliament. Then it goes uphill to the Stuttgart Kessel. First we experience the picturesque panorama on the IGA hill in the Leibfriedschen garden. After a relaxing ride uphill, you can enjoy a fantastic all-round view at the Bismarck tower before continuing on to the well-known Weissenhof estate, which boasts modern, purist architecture. Finally, it goes to the emblematic Chinese Garden, in which one feels briefly transported to the other end of the world, before it goes past the Lindenhof Museum back to the city again.

I travel a lot to Europe and was looking for something fun and new... Found this online a while back and chose the 4 nights/3 drives/790Km tour from Zurich. From start to finish the tour was well organized, with excellent hotels and a perfect route packed with incredible roads and wonderful scenery. Piloting the Porsche 911 over the high alpine roads was probably one of the best couple of days I ever spent in Europe!
