Paul has a little slice of Heaven on a secluded beach that has zero tourists- just locals and travelers interested in authentic cultural experiences. We learned so much from Paul- he showed us how to cook a traditional meal using vegetables he grew on his farm. He told us abt the history of the island, the slave trade, his ancestors and how they taught him abt medicinal plants and Caribbean cooking. He gave us a tour of his farm and the forest but we still had plenty of time to just relax on the beach. We felt like we experienced the real St Lucia for a day- it was the highlight of our trip!

We took a day trip to Anse Mamin from our resort (Ladera) via pre-arranged water taxi. We paid the $36 for two chairs under an umbrella on the visitor side of the beach (the other side is reserved for resort guests), and enjoyed our day tremendously. The snorkling was good (and uncrowded early) and the whole atmosphere was enjoyable. The burgers served by a lovely little on-beach restaurant were SO good. All in all, it's well worth a day!

Fond Doux Plantation & Resort's Heritage Tour

On this historic and educational tour, our knowledgeable guides take you on a journey of French Kings, chocolate, and organic fruits and vegetables. The tour begins with a brief history of the resort’s plantation, how it evolved, and where it is today. You are then led to the Cocoa Fermentation House to see the beginning of the chocolate making process, the drying trays and the cocoa – rina dance. Next your guide takes you around the resort trails, passing under the tropical canopy of almond, nutmeg, cocoa, and palm trees. The many varieties of flowers include Pagoda, White Star Jasmine, and Lobster Claws, the latter of which features cup-like petals that collect rainwater, making them popular with the many Hummingbirds of Fond Doux Plantation & Resort. The tour ends with a scenic hike up the Lamontagne's trail which offers break taking rainforest views and a perfect view of Petit Piton. After your tour you will be treated to a sumptuous authentic Saint Lucian buffet lunch or snacks.
