Not so long ago, bicycles ruled the road in Taiwan. Two of the world's largest bicycle makers, Merida and Giant, have their origins in Taiwan. Bicycle is still the best way to see Taipei, just keep an eye out for crazy drivers. I rode my bicycle around Taipei for several years and came to no harm.

Taiwan is a small island with lots to see. Many people would be inclined to hire a car and drive themselves, but this is not always a good idea in Taiwan. Taiwan is mountainous, it's topography is rarely easy to follow. Therefore, arranging a tour is worth considering. We arrived a bit early and June was waiting for us. She started with the Longshan Temple and explained what was going on, the local religions and worship, very interesting. We moved on to the traditional medicine area and tried some teas. We also had a look at the preserved old shops. June was cheerful and pleasant and knowledgeable. She ordered some local buns for us to finish with which were delicious. Family of five from Australia.

✔️Discover the hidden Jiufen Town that is only known to locals ✔️Experience the near extinct gold-prospecting skills unique to Taiwan ✔️Spot the breathtaking panoramic view of coastal-hill regions --- Jiufen, probably already on your bucket list of must go places, is one of the most renowned cities among travelers to Taiwan. Once the most dominant gold mine city of Asia under Japanese colonization, she enjoyed prominence even well into the 1950s. For decades, Jiufen was celebrated for its luxurious life style, grandeur of its temples and theaters, and the size of its visitor crowds. Today, Jiufen is mostly appreciated for its local cuisine, the coastal views of North Taiwan, and its relation to popular movies such as Spirited Away and A City of Sadness. However, on this fascinating route, we take you to the unknown side of Jiufen away from the clustered tourist sites - Come with us on this tour to travel back in time and see the authentic Jiufen Town in its golden years!

This is a great tour and Tina was a really brilliant guide - smart, knowledgeable and great fun. The market is lively and interesting with amazing - and sometimes crazy - food to try. The food was delicious and often surprising and although the market is a bit touristy it does still provide a window into Taipei life. The two hours flew by! I would really recommend this tour - such fun and a great way to experience the market.
