This is a very small garden for castle grounds but it is beautifully laid out with unique positioning of the lake and surrounding vegetation. I loved it.

Fantastic view of Mt Fuji from here. It was easy to reach from Shimuzu. Leave the station and head for the bus. It’s all signposted in English and the bus makes announcement in English when you reach the right stop and the signs to Miho no Matsubara are also in English. There’s a visitor centre, toilets and some shops and restaurants. Nice promenade lined with pine trees to walk along or you can walk along the beach.
