St Martin on the Hill

Reviewed By MrMrsWilko - Birmingham, United Kingdom

An amazing church with a collection of early PRB creations, a truly rare collection of Burne-Jones, Rossetti, Stanhope, Webb, Maddox Brown, Morris art in original situ in an interesting Bodley Church. Historically interesting too, with it being proto-Catholic/Tractarian in a geography that was not at all! Church is not open every day nor all of the time, so do check its opening times. Very worth a visit if you are a Pre-Raphaelite or Victorian art fan.

There are 2 Belle Statues in the town, One by The Sands North Bay and the one by the lighthouse. Both rather lovely.

Coffee Pot Rock

I have been coming to this site every year for 10 years, and it still moves me. My family were tragically lost at home in a coffee pot accident. Each time I come I pray that the sea has eroded this monsterous fossil, but it is defiant as I stare into the distance. Sometimes the salt hangs heavy in the air and like the drink that fills its hollow chamber: it tastes bitter.

This lovely 10 acre lake on the outskirts of Scarborough has an easy walk around the banks, many geese and swans with other wild fowl when we visited. Water lilies, and wild vegetation areas. All paths Wheelchair friendly. There is a small cafe serving traditional food. No charge for parking
