Pyramids Road Wines

Our vineyard was planted in 1999 and since then we have progressively increased our production to meet demand. We are two ex school teachers who made a tree change to the Granite Belt to grow grapes, make wine and open a cellar door. It’s a hands-on operation as all processes are completed by the two of us on site. We skillfully create regional wines that exhibit strong varietal fruit characters.

This winery is celebrating 20 years in 2019 and it is always worth a visit. You might be welcomed by their winery dog Ralph or by the smiling faces of Sue and Warren - but you will always get a warm welcome. We recently returned with a 2006 bottle of their Bernie’s Blend (named after Warren’s dad) and man it had aged well!! So buy some to drink now and some to put away - you won’t regret it!! Beautiful location near the Girraween National Park - so lovely scenery on the way (but watch out for the local kangaroos).

3 of us stopped here as part of a wine tour. Tony and Mary were very friendly and knowledgeable. Tony gave us a great overview of some educational info in the winemaking business which was a nice touch. Cellar door is beautifully presented, clean and with nice glasswear to taste from. Excellent vineyard to stop in at for a taste.

Ohana Cider House & Tropical Winery

Ohana Cider House and Tropical Winery is a must-see stop in the Bundaberg region. Sample a range of award-winning ciders, fruit wines and liqueurs with owners Josh and Zoe - or indulge in an insta-worth tasting paddle in the outdoor cider garden.

Reviewed By adventureswithemj - Brisbane, Australia

Just around the corner from the Bundaberg Rum Distillery is the Ohana Cider House & Tropical Winery. Here we met owners Josh & Zoe and heard their story about how (with no winemaking experience and on a whim) they purchased a run-down winery in Childers in 2014. They have done great things since then and now produce several different ciders, two different wines, a port and a liqueur. The apple cider is made with fresh apples from Queensland’s apple capital Stanthorpe and the wine is fruit wine made with strawberries and pineapple (yum!). I sampled several ciders and both the Strawberry Moscato and Pineapple Moscato. While the ciders were nice, the wine was excellent! In fact, it was so excellent that I ended up buying 12 bottles of it! My husband tried and purchased the coffee liqueur. They also do a cheese board to accompany your tastings that includes Kenilworth cheeses, so grab yourself one of these and settle in for a great afternoon! Pro tip: Get yourself a designated driver and grab yourself the $18 tasting paddle that allows you to try six different drinks of your choice.

Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery

The Gold Coast's first and only craft Gin, Vodka and Whiskey distillery located just two minutes walk from the North Burleigh beach. Recreating age-old family recipes in memory of our Great Granddad Jack, each of our spirits are handcrafted and made from locally or nationally sourced raw materials. We have humbly won multiple prestigious industry awards since opening and invite you to join us on a tour or visit to the Tasting Room to try for yourself. Production is on full show to visitors from the Tasting Room and tours are available over the weekend. We also host a very intimate distillery experience weekly where you can make your own bottle of gin and enjoy an evening with our Head Distiller. Our Tasting Room has a BYO food policy (order in or bring your own cheeseboard). We're both family & fur baby friendly and often have local live music on weekends.

So our day started with a tour of the Granddad Jack’s distillery, with a gin in our hand and Dave telling his story. We learnt about the family history and how every aspect of the business came together from the building of the premises to the name on each bottle. We were captivated from the start and felt like we’d been welcomed into the family. Being that the venue is BYO food, we decided to whip out a little cheese board and Nicky kindly sat us at the bar to be a part of the action. Zac and Jimmy had the bar under control and had some great banter to keep us entertained for the day. Luke popped his head up briefly out the back, but boy oh boy is his coffee liqueur worth a try!! The kiwi singer (Joe I think) knew how to read the room when it came to song choices. Alongside the usual Sunday vibes, he did some originals songs and then some acoustic versions of songs you wouldn’t really expect to hear. It was all round a lovely atmosphere. We have friends coming up to QLD from VIC later this year and will definitely be bringing them here! Thanks again to the awesome family that is Granddad Jack’s! Sam and Blondie xx

Bundaberg Rum Distillery

Under the careful and crafty eyes of our Distillers, Blenders and Bondsmen, millions of litres of Bundaberg Rum are aged to perfection here at the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. After protecting and ageing our rums since the 70s, the grand old guardian of the distillery Bondstore #7, has been given new life by being transformed into our immersive Bundaberg Rum Museum. Inside, you’ll walk through a series of 75,000 litre American White Oak Vats – the very same vats which have matured hundreds of thousands of litres of rum (after being emptied and rebuilt of course). Inside these vats live a sensory experience where you can see, touch and smell your way through our rich history in creating Australia’s Favourite Rum – Bundaberg Rum. Please ensure that you arrive at least 20-30 mins early for your tour, especially for the last tour of the day and during school holiday periods. Unfortunately Flammable devices; matches and lighters, as well as any item with a battery including; watches, cameras, and mobile phones, pose a fire hazard to the Distillery and cannot be taken on tour. Lockers are provided free of charge to store these items whilst inside the Distillery on tour. If you have a medically required device such as a hearing aid, give us a call in advance so we can make arrangements for you to bring those items with you.

Our party of three adults thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour by Bobbi - very knowledgeable, friendly and enjoyed her humour :) Definitely an asset to the team and added to the great Aussie vibe. Samples were great inspiration to encourage purchases via the giftshop. Very happy with our outing! Definitely advise utilising a taxi to thoroughly enjoy the samples!

3 of us took part in the Brewery Tour yesterday - from the video at the start to the tasting at the end we couldn't fault it. The tour was both informative and entertaining. Can't believe I have lived in QLD for 44 years and this is the first time I have done the tour. Looking at some of the old cans and bottles along the way brought back different memories in my own life. Great sampling of the different styles they brew at the end. We followed it up with a couple of souvenirs and lunch at the Alehouse - no better way to spend a morning.

Shannonvale Tropical Fruit Winery

We make award winning wines from Tropical Fruit and no this does not mean they are sweet and sticky. They range from very dry wines to ports and they are all commercial standard. The wines are single-fruit wines, not blends. All the fruits we use have big flavours and we grow them in the organic way and in our own orchard. The flavours of the fruits are retained in the wine.

Reviewed By WorldTravla7 - Cairns, Australia

I took a detour to this unique tropical fruit winery on the way back to Cairns after a recent weekend in Mossman/Daintree. I wish I’d done it sooner. The setting is lush and secluded, the host was lovely & very attentive and the tropical fruit wines were sensational. They have won a lot of awards at wine festivals. I’ll be back and encourage others to support this niche local business. I bought a bottle of passion fruit wine as it was my favourite on the day but I could have picked any number of others.
