Eaglecrest Golf Club

Named after the Eagles that soar overhead, Eaglecrest Golf Club is located in the beautiful Oceanside area of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Established in 1971, Eaglecrest is one of the oldest golf courses in the area. This 18 hole championship golf course offers lush fairways and towering evergreen trees. The layout deftly combines a variety of different elements to create a uniquely challenging course. The first three holes are traditional links-style holes, while the next nine are tighter, winding through dense groves of firs and cedars. The final six holes are the golf courses most formidable, especially the 14th and 17th. The par-5 14th hole features lakes on either side as well as a treacherous pot bunker guarding the large green. Eaglecrest Golf Club`s 17th is also tricky. With a narrow landing area, massive greenside bunkers, and a slippery, four tiered, narrow green, the 17th at Eaglecrest will test all areas of your game. Eaglecrest presents many challenging tests, even for the most seasoned golfer.

After many years of living in the Oceanside area and playing numerous of the local golf courses we opted to join the same course for the first time. Taking advantage of a promotional offer we put our money down to become members at Pheasant Glen for the 2018 season. As this was in September 2017 we were entitled to play as for members remainder of 2017 at no cost. If we opted not to commit to joining for 2018 the $500 deposit that we put down in September would be retained so it was a win-win for all parties. We managed to get in 11 18 hole rounds Before setting off on a golf holiday to the US. Upon our return in early December the course suffered from the usual fog, frost and cool temperatures that we are becoming used to in the winter months but that did not have any negative impact on our commitment to put down the deposit as we felt the 11 rounds was well worth the $500 and cemented our commitment to be coming for playing members for 2018. Through what is obviously a very thorough and comprehensive maintenance program the golf course is typically in excellent condition it has a mixture of tough challenging holes as well as some easier ones to soften the blow on your scorecard. It could use a little bit of enhancement on holes 14 and 15 to bring them up to the same level as the other seven holes on the Pines nine. The original front nine which is a more wide open and less challenging layout than the new nine is no pushover if you take it for granted. The practice facility is a major highlight of membership as full usage of it with unlimited range balls is part of your membership entitlement. It contains a grass teed and matted driving range, large practice putting green and a dedicated short game practice green complete with a greenside bunker. The pro shop is really quaint with its log cabin look and the staff are always very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We have had four or five meals on the deck after our round and they have all been very delicious with large portions and fair prices. They also carry nonalcoholic beer which is nice for us as we don’t drink alcohol and either do some of our golfing friends we will be bringing there. You can’t beat the price of joining there with the nine month membership option at around $ 2100 it’s a fantastic deal M1 if you get a chance to take advantage of I would highly recommend.

Located on the old Island Highway, this is a beautiful spot to take a walk. The boardwalk is fairly lengthy and you can walk quite a ways. Keep your eyes on the beach because you will see Eagles, seals, and lots more sea life. Very nice attraction.
