During the trip, we were also able to find out much about Slovakian history and culture as our guide was very knowledgeable on this.

This tour is an adventure for itself. Awesome company, landscape and profound expertise. Highly recommended! We got picked up early by Erik, our tour guide. He drove with us to a beautiful valley in the High Tatras, where we went for a hike amidst a beautiful landscape. We looked for bear tracks, bears, mountain goats and deers, chatted along our way and enjoyed being in the nature only by ourselves. Erik is a very sociable and easy-going person with lots of life experience. He shared with us his knowledge about the region and the bears and showed us his most promising sites for bear watching. Although seeing a bear is of course not guaranteed on such tours, we were lucky that Erik with his binocular and eagle eyes spotted a bear on the mountain. We were also eager to look for bears on our own, thereby spotting mountain goats and deers. Although this tour is about bear watching, my wife and I both agreed within the first hour of this day trip (i.e. before even having the chance of seeing a bear) that the tour was absolutely worth it. If you are curious about Erik and the bears: He appears in a freely available German TV documentary called "Sagenhaft - Die Hohen Tatras." It gives you a good impression about the region, about Erik's character and, most importantly, his sense of humour (keyword: bear poo). :-)
