Lago Artes

Lago Artes - In the Very Heart of Historical Centre of Porto, Visit the Fine Artist Hugo do Lago Open Art Studio and Gallery. Painting & Watercolour Workshops Available, Original Art Works, Customized Frames and Hopefully a Great Time With Us… See You Very Soon! Silvia & Hugo do Lago

Reviewed By KSharmini - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I did the watercolour painting experience with Hugo this morning at his studio Lago Artes and it was one of the best activities I’ve done! Hugo and his wife Silvia are two of the kindest, most welcoming hosts I’ve ever met. The art class was easy to follow and so interesting. I learned a lot about how to use watercolours and enjoyed chatting to Hugo and Silvia through the day. The snacks and drinks were a lovely touch and his studio is beautiful. You MUST visit Lago Artes if you are in Porto - you’ll love it. Even if you aren’t an artist, just being around Hugo and Silvia is enough to enjoy!

Mercado Bom Sucesso

Always fresh, always at hand The past is revisited in the new Bom Sucesso Market, through the familiar colors and scents of fruit and vegetables. One can almost hear the market woman's catchy cries. Modern days are still filled with those scents and colors, but the Market has gone a step further by adding new delicacies and flavors. The place invites visitors to find out more about its history and about the road taken until the present day. In here all five senses are awakened. And at the end of a working day, this inviting and sensorial space is ideal for a snack among friends, ideal to share thoughts and dreams, or to revive old memories. Life can be smooth, even with abounding sensations. Matches your smile Bom Sucesso Market is a Babel made of costumes, routines and traits of people that are here, and people that arrive. There are shopping bags, and little gifts to be exchanged, there are offices closing new deals and opening new doors. There are local people enjoying the place, but also foreign faces, with different accents and languages, already so familiar. In between the hotel and the market area there is bustle and pauses punctuated with fleeting smiles and loud guffaws. We love this concept that becomes more meaningful when a smile flowers from a pair of lips, when people cross each other's paths in a place where so many things happen.

My Portuguese friend showed me this place. Here is you can try different types of Portuguese cuisine. And what I love - it is special cocktails - with passion fruit - so good and tasty - only 5 euros.

Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos

The appearance of the market can hardly be dissociated from the traditional city center and the Municipality of the Matosinhos County. It is a point of reference not only to the residents but also to the occasional visitor, many of which are tourists. Because of its location, it has to be seen as the anchor for urban and commercial revitalization of Matosinhos´s historical center.

If you love fish this is the place. The No 500 and the train from Porto terminate outside. There is a great restaurant attached to the market which will cook any fish you buy. They charge €4.50 for doing it. They give you salad and small potatoes which is extra. Its worth. the trip.Upstairs is the fresh fruit, salad and vegetables. Unfortunately it is a place to also buy live chickens, ducks and rabbit which are caged rather cruelly by European standards. If your squeamish stay on the fish floor!
