Dinagyang Festival

Held on the fourth Saturday of January each year, in Iloili City in the Philippines, the Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural celebration. In the late '70s, the traditional festival was rebranded and designed to attract tourism to the Philippines. Today, various regions throughout the country celebrate with warrior dances, massive parades and feasting. Innovations such as the carousel performance and mobile risers sprung from the Dinagyang Festival throughout the years.

A colleague invited us over for this wonderful treat. We are housed in Pototan an hour away from Iloilo City, it was a residency and I personally enjoyed the Ilonggo way of living especially the way they speak softly and kindly. The Dinagyang festival is one the grandiose events I've seen so far, with loud drumbeats and colorful costumes indeed appealing to the ears and eyes. Food is also great, from chicken inasal to butterscotch as desert. Face paintings and other stuff, awesome, loud and colorful indeed.

Sinulog Festival

Reviewed By emieab - Marikina, Philippines

Most colorful show of religious belief and astounding festival as it shows talent of artists in flowers floats dance and merry making in the streets and at the city Hall. Most ideal place to stay at Crown plaza Hotel or around ayala mall to view the Sinulog parade Most streets near masuluca are closed so prepare to walk. Thick crowds can cause danger as you can hardly move for emergencies in the cathedral during dawn mass on the day itself which is 3rd Sunday. Nice river procession where you can rent a boat to attend procession 2am to early morning when they reach the shore. Colorful parade around the city complete with dancing and singing.
