Marche du Centre Ville

If you are coming to La Rochelle this is a must. The vast range of fresh products on offer is amazing. The market spills onto several streets and there is a lively bustling atmosphere. Large queues form for the most popular stores. However don’t leave it too late as the market tends to wrap up round about 1.00pm.

Royan market is a must visit. The outdoor and indoor markets are both on, on Sundays, but the indoor food market is on daily. Fabulous stalls selling the best choice of sea food we have ever seen, and we have visited many. Pleased make the effort, you will not be disappointed

Les Halles

This a place with a particular architecture. Inside you will find little shops with local producers. They sell some fresh products like fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats and fresh fishes. This is a moment of complicity with the local producers, and a moment of discovery for your papillaes. It's possible to take a glass and some pintxos between friends. The covered market is opened every day from 7 am till 1 pm every morning all year long. A food market takes place around the covered market on Tuesday morning and Friday morning all year long and on Saturdays mornings in July-August.

Wonderful visit to this market place. Beautiful displays of fish, meat, cheese, local cakes and pastries, vegetables and fruit. Very busy. Puts our markets to shame. Lovely town to walk around too. Lovely place to visit. Closes at 1pm.

Marche Alimentaire

I knew this market as being a market catering for not only fruit and vegetables but fish, meat and poultry. It has delicatessen stalls not just charcuterie but a wide choice of cheeses. It also sells knick knacks, clothing and footwear, all in the centre of the village free from cars (as they are barred on this day, though plenty of carparking spaces) so you can wander safely or sit outside of a cafe and enjoy something to eat or drink while watching the world go by. As I said knowing this I took my son and his wife and my little grandson and they were not disappointed. They enjoyed the experience tremendously.
