Things to do in Møre og Romsdal, Western Norway: The Best Farms

November 18, 2021 Ying Subia

The most northerly of the Western Fjord counties, More og Romsdal is a land of rich and rugged terrain, including steep mountains, rolling valleys, many islands, some of the country’s longest waterfalls and, of course, the deep fjords that make the area so famous. Geirangerfjord, one of Norway’s most visited fjords, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to the spectacular Brudesløret (Bride’s Veil) and De Syv Søstrene (The Seven Sisters) waterfalls. Picturesque Alesund is the county capital.

During Christmas, the farm gate at Hakallegarden is open all weekdays. They light a fire in the lavu tent, bake the Norwegian delicacy sveler as well as dark bread sandwiches. On Tuesday, four hillwalkers will visit and show a film from a mountain- and climbing expedition in Southern America. Petter Kragset will introduce the film and tell about the trip. In the barn, alpaca, kittens and horses have a good time and look forward to a visit from young and old. Welcome to a cosy Christmas excursion!
