Aoshima Shrine

Amazing and peaceful. Well worth a short regional train ride from Miyazaki to visit Aoshima, the village, the gardens and the walk to this island shrine. Nothing short of wonderful.

Miyazaki Shinto Shrine

Reviewed By Cyber0515 - Tokyo, Japan

Walking around the grounds, you get the impression that it's 'a typical Japanese grand shrine like the Meiji Shrine or Atsuta Shrine'. On the other hand, unlike those big city shrines, this shrine is not so crowded. It's a place where you can experience the atmosphere of the "God's Place" that the Japanese have cherished for so many years. With the exception of festivals, there are basically no events or facilities to entertain tourists. You can also use this place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle and take a stroll in a quiet environment. There are almost no ups and downs on the grounds. Therefore, you will hardly get tired when you walk around. However, many of the approaches are unpaved or gravel, so people in wheelchairs may find it difficult to use them.
