Things to do in Marbella, Andalucia: The Best Sights & Landmarks

May 17, 2022 Milan Banda

In the chic, sun-drenched Costa del Sol town of Marbella, hints of its former Moorish occupation mingle with modern-day resort amenities. Bask on the sands of famous La Fontanilla beach or ricochet among the area's family-oriented water, wildlife and theme parks. Experience the Andalusian charm of the historic quarter, filled with whitewashed buildings, remnants of a ninth-century Arab fortress and fragrant orange trees. End a relaxing day with a dish of the cold almond soup ajoblanco and some of the region's excellent dessert wine.

Marbella Old Town

This old neighborhood is full of romance, with narrow, winding cobblestone streets: great for evening strolls.

Marbella is not just a glitzy beach town but also an highly historic city dating back to the times of the Moors. The old town is choc full of character with the old fortifications, narrow streets, colorful churches, little chapels, lively squares, and of course many restaurants and shops. Very much worthwhile to go to essentially every day during your Marbella stay.

A must see for all who visit Marbella. We call it the Dali Square. Original bronzes of some of Dali’s most famous pictures. My favourite of all time is his wife Gala but of course the long legged elephants are there for all to see. Car park under the square. Highly recommended then a walk across the road to Orange Square - shops and many fabulous restaurants and bars. Or stay that side and walk along the sea front - also full of great bars and of course the great sandy beaches. Beware the hawkers though.

Beautiful simple peaceful white mosque with wonderful architecture. Was wonderful walking towards the mosque and seeing the scenery and taking it all in. Excellent Andalusian features works well with nature as a backdrop and palm trees dotted about. Has male and female areas. Wonderful azan done on loudspeaker daily five times. Feels like you are in an Islamic country, great vibe.
