I have been at this site around five times, either alone or bringing groups of friends there. Never have I encountered any other visitors, which is such a pity. Government needs to take action and make this important museum/monument more publicly known! Everybody needs to be reminded about the atrocities perpetuated by the South African apartheid regime, and the cross-border raids that killed so many ANC activists - in Matola as well as in many other places. This site features an impressing outdoors memorial monument, and a modern, smartly designed museum outlining the freedom struggles in RSA and Moz. Knowledgeable English speaking guides are available, and entrance is free - though you will be asked for a voluntary donation. My one remark is that the museum would be vastly improved if they invested in backup electricity. On one of my visits there was a power outage, which left the interiors very dark without any illumination. And also the TV monitors that show filmed material were rendered useless.

Also known in town as the lemon-squeezer, this church is a landmark not to be missed when visiting Maputo. Its shape is particular and recognizable among all. The contrast of its materials: rough concrete and delicate stain steel is to be mentioned. Its games of light created by the disposition of the stain glasses inside is adding to the particularities of the place. The church is open to the public for visits but also for worshipping.

Old but well managed building. Train station terminal at downtown Maputo, in front of the lady statue from the colonial era. Busy place. Difficult to get parking. Closer to the harbour and Fortaleza De Maputo. Also advisible to visit ... historical monuments ...

The cathedral is what it's called. Unique, spectacular, a true work of centuries-old architecture. The exterior view offers an unimaginable beauty, but the interior of the cathedral is where the imagination went beyond. I recommend that you visit the interior to get an idea of what I mean.

This Square is where you could see the statue of Samora Machel, the first President of Mozambique, which is in front of the City Hall of Maputo
