Things to do in London, England: The Best Literary, Art & Music Tours

September 19, 2021 Brandee Mangan

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

I really enjoyed this tour of central London galleries! Gwen is a lovely and very skilled tourguide with a lot of knowledge on the art and architecture in the area. Even though I'm an arts professional myself, I felt I learned new things from the tour, and Gwen also shares some very funny facts! This tour is a great way to get to know some of the commercial contemporary art galleries in central London and to make a selection of your favourite places to revisit. Gwen is flexible and if you would like to see something in the tour she will do her best to make this happen.

Managed to do the Kew Gardens tour just before lockdown 2.0, and so glad I did! The whole process of getting set up with the guide was super easy, and the tour itself was really informative without being overbearing - I learned loads about the history of the gardens and I really felt like they'd done their research. The podcast style of the guide is so different to other audio guides I have used, and it's so refreshing to listen to a guide that is this engaging. Looking forward to using this again when I can visit some more places!
