Things to do in Liverpool, England: The Best Visitor Centers

February 20, 2022 Oliva Fomby

Liverpool's fortunes have historically been tied to shipping. But imports and exports like sugar, spice and tobacco pale in comparison with Liverpool's most famous export of all—the Beatles. Relive the hysteria at the Beatles Story Experience, and check out Paul's childhood home, but also leave time for exploring Liverpool Cathedral and the Walker Art Gallery.

Penny Lane Beatles Visitors Centre

Thanks to the genius of Lennon and McCartney, Penny Lane is the most famous lane in the world. PLDT celebrates that unique heritage and has welcomed over 100,000 tourists since 2010. We’re a charity run by a small staff team and supported by volunteers. The centre’s presence in the area continues to grow and we are a thriving community hub and tourist destination. We are included on many tours, so ask upon booking. Guests love the history of the project and support us by purchasing unique souvenirs of Penny Lane or items created by local artists & authors. We have the unique ‘Beatles Wonder Wall’, Penny Lane street sign & our little yellow submarine Resurgam, discover its connection to The Beatles. Other Beatles sites in South Liverpool are within walking distance or a short drive from PLDT and staff are happy to help with directions. The PLDT global community is increasing year on year and the vast majority who visit have done so on a recommendation, now, money can’t buy that love!

Brilliant place for all Beatles enthusiasts. I was taken here as part of the Beatles tour I booked via the Hard Days Night Hotel. The manager Julie was a delight to talk to and very knowledgeable. Loved the yellow submarine and the art wall outside and all the memorabilia inside. I also have to say that it is not often you come across an act of pure kindness and generosity, but I did on this visit. Julie had tickets for the Mersey Beatles on the night of our visit and offered them to us for a donation to the trust as she could not make the concert. THANK YOU Julie❤️❤️❤️ It made our holiday. What a fabulous night. You are a star ????????and I will be back next time I’m in Liverpool❤️

I have read the reviews on here and I'm at a loss and felt compelled to write this. I've used the airport lounge at Liverpool since and prior to the refurb. It's always been good, staff are friendly, respectful and very courteous. Good options of hot and cold food. Excellent drink selections and dessert. Newspapers readily available and spotlessly clean. I've been to other airport lounges and this has always been one of the best. A fantastic start to any holiday.
