The museums of Lisbon celebrate the rich history and culture of this Portuguese capital city. The Maritime Museum is perfect for kids (and grown-ups!) who adore all things nautical, while the Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves is a hidden gem of colorful artwork. To fully appreciate the city’s dramatic stone architecture you can take a guided walking tour, or customize your own tour, making sure to visit the Padrao dos Descobrimentos, the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, and the UNESCO World Heritage site the Torre de Belem.

We are a young gallery, located in Calçada Marquês de Abrantes 72 in Santos-o-Velho. We have the ambition to contribute to the diffusion of the national and international artists, with a wide audience. We started this course on June 08, 2017 and we already have the presence of great artists such as Mário Rocha, Roberto Santandreu, Inez Wijnhorst, Susana Piteira, Isabelle Faria, Beatriz Cunha, João Paulo Queiroz and Jaime Silva.

Galeria Belo-Galsterer believes in multicultural diversity, therefore we work together with artists of different origins, and different generations, to present them to the Portuguese and international art scene, to its collectors and institutions. The artists represented by Belo-Galsterer, show a great interest in exploring the values of contemporary society by using a wide range of expressions.

With works ranging from Antiquity to the early 20th century, the Founder’s Collection comprises more than six thousand pieces gathered throughout Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian’s life, including Egyptian Art, Greco-Roman Art, Islamic Arts, Painting, Sculpture and European Decorative Arts. Works by great masters such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Turner, Degas and René Lalique’s largest set of jewels are just a few examples of what can be found in one of the best private collections in the world. Besides the Founder’s Collection, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is also comprised by the Modern Collection, which features the largest and most complete collection of modern and contemporary Portuguese Art. The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is surrounded by one of the most emblematic modern gardens in Portugal, open all year. The Museum offers a wide range of facilities to improve the visitor’s experience: three cafeterias overlooking the Garden, a museum shop, free cloackroom service and free Wi-Fi.
The Calouste Gulbenkian collection is a must-see for art lovers and is widely considered one of the best art collections in Portugal. From Ancient Egyptian hieroglyph panels to breathtaking 20th century jewelry, this collection offers some of the finest artifacts, tiles, vases, and paintings. I personally suggest that you bring earbuds, as the museum has a free app that serves as an audio guide. Admission is free on the weekends, but during the weekdays, 12 and under is admitted free, ages below 29 and above 65 are admitted with a 50% discount. The museum also has free WiFi.

We visit this mall in Mar. 2020 and loved it. Great food court. You’ll need a few hours to explore it all. Well worth the visit. We took Uber from waterfront Lisbon. It was convenient and cost effective.

On our way to the castle, we came across this store, it just draws you in from the lovely window displays. Each piece is made by an artist and they are beautiful and one of a kind. Their tshirts and bags are nice and of good quality. The owner is welcoming and gracious. A great store to check out in Lisbon.

“A Arte da Terra”, located in one of the most beautiful buildings of Lisbon, The old stables with 27 mangers, an original regular stone floor and three domes, are the right place to find the genuine handcrafted Portuguese pieces. Tiles, Portuguese embroideries, ceramic, the iconic Barcelos Roosters, Linnen and wool clothes, paintings, the famous Portuguese soaps and different products made of cork.
This shop almost feels like it's a gallery due to the wonderful way the products are displayed. Products range in price from the very affordable (magnets, key-rings, postcards etc. but much nicer than the ones in the usual tourist shops) to pieces of art that would be a pretty major purchase for most. However, many of the pieces were affordable for a bit of a splurge - if like me you like to pick up original things from countries travelled, for a bit more than your usual tourist trappings then this is the place to go.
