A few updates to my June 2, 2018 and June 22, 2014 reviews: The admission prices are the same as they were in 2014 -- $8 for adults, and $12 for children ages 2 - 12. If you don't have a stroller/buggy/pram, you can rent a two-child wagon for $2. You can purchase good-sized hay feed bags for $1 each. I'm going to mention a number of animals on view at the Lambs. You can skip the next two paragraphs, but I'm including this information so that you can prepare your children in advance for what they will be seeing. I am of the "that's what my phone is for" school of instant research, but you may want to do some getting-ready reading. There is very little signage on site. The Discovery Center is filled with interesting inhabitants: ferrets, quail, hedgehogs (Lt. Dan, a rescue African pygmy, lost his hind legs to frostbite), snakes (don't miss the albino violet corn snake), lizards (including a one-year-old docile Tegu lizard), guinea pigs, lovebirds, parakeets, chinchilla, rats, iguana, etc. The resident cockatoo, Charlie, and the blue macaw are in the garden and pet center. And, of course, barnyard cats are everywhere. The outdoor exhibits include ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, a camel, horses, ponies (including a mini dwarf pony),cows, and my favourite -- pigs, one of which was blissfully cooling off in a mud bath when we visited. I have never seen a pig wallow before and it was fascinating. Warning -- don't get too close. I was spared, but the woman next to me ended up not so blissfully trying to get the mud off her hot pink outfit. There is a farm-themed miniature golf course. The train and merry-go-round might be under maintenance, but the admission price will be adjusted if they are. There are a few new souvenirs for sale at the entrance, but I'd walk over to the Cedar Chest thrift shop -- which has a full room of toys, art supplies, books, games, puzzles, dolls, stuffed animals, etc. There is also an alcove with school and office supplies. The prices are very reasonable, and you'll be supporting the mission of the Lambs organization -- "Helping people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives and connecting with the human spirit in us all." Although there are a number of family restaurants in nearby Libertyville and Mundelein, you might want to visit the Lambs fully-stocked Snack Shop with its covered picnic table area. You can get sandwiches, drinks, ice cream, etc. There is a portable toilet by the carousel, and restrooms across the parking lot near the snack shop. You can spend a couple of memorable, kid-friendly hours here. convenient to the tollway
