According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 1,640,087, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 1,702,207. For 2002-2012, the region's 1.8 percent average annual population growth rate was the 24th highest in the country. It was also the eighth most densely populated region with 124 people per square kilometer.

Having a number of different drivers taking me places in both Kenya and Tanzania I probably can’t express enough how important it is to have the RIGHT driver!! The van was nice (they were the only ones to use AC which is massive when it’s blazing hot out!) and the police checks went off without a hitch (or the need for a bribe). I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. It was also nice to have someone who understands English which isn’t always the case. I was not only driven around but also assisted in exchanging dollars to shillings and getting a SIM card! If you need reliable transport use them for sure!

Mubarak is a very nice guy who has recently started his own transfer company around Moshi and Arusha. He is a very safe driver and we had a very interesting conversation about many different topics. The price was fair, and low compared to other options, $35 for a transfer from Moshi to Kilimanjaro Airport, which takes about an hour. I also got a bottle of water for free. So I can fully recommend Kili Transfers.

We spent two days with David as our tour guide. He had great suggestions on what to do. We walked around a market in Moshi, drove past an common village, visited and danced in a Maasai village, swam in hot springs. Then he dropped us off at the airport. David is very knowledgeable and speaks English very well. I highly recommend him.
