The Columbia River

Reviewed By PreBetty - Seattle, United States

My husband and I looped around SW WA for an impromptu day trip. We finished our drive driving West along the WA side of the Columbia River hitting it around 1pm and had the pleasure of seeing in on a blue bird day. There were so many awesome changes in terrain from dry rocky peaks, to mossy ferns reaching to the road, to snow, and then as we got closer to Vancouver, back to green lush landscape. The River and Columbia gorge were breathtaking and a site we can’t wait to drive through again. Tons a little lakes and waterfalls, places to fish or kayak, that next time we will have to stop and enjoy; park and recreational areas that will be fun to take the kids to, and small towns along the way with non-chain restaurant food options. I highly recommend stopping in Stevenson at the Big River Grill, which I made sure to review as well. We may have to look into some of the fishing expeditions along the Columbia River next time too, and really get another view of this mini Grand Canyon-esk region in WA.... and hopefully catch an infamous sturgeon! Doesn’t matter if you’re new to WA or a native, the Columbia River is a place to experience.

This park contains several hundred acres of riverfront land and offers a variety of recreation opportunities.

This park has everything, except a few good waterfront restaurants and beaches. Miles and miles of waterfront, fishing ponds, ball fields, Frisbee golf, regular golf, walking trails, children's play areas, etc. Just a huge huge park and a wonderful place to visit. Never really feels crowded because it's so big. Lots of events held there. Certainly worth the visit!
