Houyeh Village

Reviewed By mohammadrezamokhtari - Tehran, Iran

Love to spend some time far from cars and tall bulidings? You may need to spend a day or two in Houyeh village. Houyeh is located near Isfahan city center ( about 20 minutes by car) and benefits from several cultural and natural attractions. Zayandehrood river passes through Houyeh during its way towards Isfahan. There are also seven pigeon towers with more than 200 years of age. These buildings were built by local farmers centuries ago in order to collect pigeon feces which is proved as an effective organic fertilizer. Houyeh is also well-renowned for its traditional, religious ceremony called "Ta'zeeyeh" which is held in Moharram (the first month of the year in arabic lunar calendar) every year. This is a religious ceremony to show and rememeber how Imam Hussein and his family were killed by enemy troops in Karbala more than one thousand years ago. In recent years, a Zurkhaneh (a special place for doing Iranian traditional sport) has been built in the village, and it is worthwhile to spend some time in the evening at Zurkhaneh watching Houyeh's people performing some unique sport activities. After spending about half a day in the village, you may feel a bit hungry. Well, do not worry! Houyeh's women are famous for their cooking! You will be hosted by a local family and will enjoy a healthy, traditional food which is cooked with fresh and mostly organic ingredients. That's it! Enjoy your stay at Houyeh village:)

Ghalat a village where due to its buildings has a long back in history is a village which is located almost 20 km from Shiraz . The village is a mixture of gardens and some houses which are mostly built with roughly shaped stones plus mortar. The village enjoys in its vicinity an eye-catching waterfall. The colorful fruit trees of the region have made the place an amazing destination for all the seasons. Recently, some coffeehouses and fast foods has been established there for the convenience of the visitors. There are so many springs and rivers and have so many camping places like Paye Chenar, Shabshotori, Cheshme Aghaei, Gerdoshahri,……On the top of each fall there is a very beautiful small woodland. Technical climbing is needed to climb and it’s specially good for cliff hangers, but some easy ways allow access. Some parts like Koljoni near Goreye Siyah fall need technical experience to climb. There is an ancient castle called Gezel Arsalan castle on the peak. Archaeologists can go there and search about its civilization. Ghalat village is an ancient village with 2500 years of history. It is a wonderfull amazing village in the heart of the mountains with beautifull roads and kind people. It has one basic hotel and many guesthosts and homestay. I also recommend to visit it at night which is more beautifull. There are also some nice villages near it and Tate road near the Iraq border is just 15 minutes drive which is a nice place to see the sunset.
