Can't believe this was the first time I've been here in all the years of coming through Greenock or visiting Greenock. The view from this vantage point is Incredible. We had the best day weather wise but it would be amazing in any weather.

As a family we visited the panto at the Beacon to see Jack and the Beanstalk. The show was really funny. Well worth a visit. The Beacon is a lovely theatre, easily accessible.

Granny Kempock Stone

Reviewed By Crossblown

The Neolithic stone stands above the main street in Gourock and has a long and mysterious past. It dates back some 2,000 - 3,000 years and was used in religious ceremonies for the worship of Baal. The local witch Mary Lamont, who was burned at the stake danced around the stone and tried to throw it into the sea. You can read about Granny Kempock in Nigel Rennie´s book Granny Kempock, which is available on Amazon or in local bookstores. Most people would pass by without giving it much attention, but read the story and you will find it has a fascinating past.
