Entrance fee is 25 rs and no ticket for kids ,there is a battery operated car which ferries visitors from. Dam entrance to top of idukki arch dam.if travelling with little kids it's advisable to use the battery car as it there is around 2 km distance from dam entrance to arch dam.it will cost you 30rs one way including children. Car parking is a mess as u need to park on the road and can easily gets blocked ...Though it's a must visit. The dam has a rich history to offer and is a location for various movies. The most important thing is the dam is not open every day it is open on public holidays, sat Sundays

Bhandardara

Reviewed By earthtrotter2015 - Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates

We visited during peak rains of August 2019 when most people were advised to stay home. We visited on week days and therefore the crowds were very less. The rains are very heavy and continuous. Hence the condition of roads is extremely bad. Please bring a car with good tyres and be prepared for punctures or other damage. High ground clearance vehicles are better. Bhandardara is a beautiful hill station. You can visit places such as Wilson Dam, Umbrella falls, Necklace falls, Ghatgar Dam, Kokan kada, Randha falls and Dam Sluice gates. Due to heavy rains we enjoyed all the above places very much. However the Lake was inaccessible and Umbrella falls were closed due to flooding. Kalsubai, the highest point in Maharashtra is nearby but due to rains it was not suitable for families like ours. Ratangad, Alang, Malang, Kulang are four important forts nearby that are ultimate destinations for trekkers. Anandvan and MTDC offer resort services. The place is good during Rains, Summer and Winter. You must visit this place once in your life.
