Cave Paintings

I had the opportunity to have a tour with Kukki Jr. The tour was along with a traveling group that I was apart of. Kukki was great. Along the way to the cave paintings, Kukki showed us the different birds, flora and fauna of the area. When we got to the cave, I was so impressed and this for me was the highlight of India. I was excited to hear about Kukki Sr and Kukki Jr's story and was inspired. If you go, you will see how passionate they are and it was wonderful to learn of the discoveries they have encountered. I am not sure about the cost since this was prepaid part of the tour that I was on, however, I can tell you that if you happen to be in Bundi, take the time and money to have a tour with Kukki, you won't regret it. Would recommend to wear good walking shoes, bring hat, and long pants.

This is an awesome place for a day trip near Bhopal. There are some 15 caves with rock painting from various eras of human history. The view from the site is great and so is the drive up the hill. The place is very well organised and it ends up being a small hike around the hill as you tour through the caves.

Badami Cave Temples

Reviewed By macedonboy - Glasgow, United Kingdom

The Badami Cave Temples is a complex consisting of 4 Hindu and Jain temples, carved into the mountainside in one of the large hills overlooking Agastya Lake. The first, second and third caves are Hindu temples and the fourth is Jain. Without a doubt the third cave temple is the best of the four with it’s highly decorative capitals and for the sheer number of sculptures. Many of the sculptures depicting the many avatars of Vishnu as Bhudevi, Trivikrama and Vamana, and other interesting sculptures depicting scenes from Hindu mythology including Vishnu seated on serpent Sesha. This cave also has some fragmentary frescos, which are supposed to be the earliest evidence of frescos in India. All the caves have something different to admire, and the Jain temple furthest away is different from all the others and therefore makes a nice change. There’s quite a big of climbing to get to all four temples, but the views of the surrounding area are breathtaking.

Trek up, take the helicopter and trek remainder distance - in any case this will be a once in a lifetime, arduous journey. Feel accomplished at the end of it. The cave itself and the ice linga is unique and mesmerizing. Trek can be cold, slippery (melted snow, frozen ice, narrow two-way path shared by humans and ponies.

These Bhuddist caves date back to the 1st century BC. The caves are considered to be amongst the earliest example of Bhuddist rock-cut architecture and an important source of historical record of the development of Bhuddist religious practices as it evolved up the 6th century CE. There are 24 four caves in total, all of which are cut into the hill of Trirasmi and requires a bit of climbing to see them all, but nothing I thought was too strenuous. Cave number 3 is the biggest, one of the most important and most richly decorated of all the caves One of the best things to see in Nashik

There are two caves here. One is recently found and one is old. Both of them worth a visit. They are in almost their natural state and still well lit. It was an adventure for children and they enjoyed it very much. One caution though: people who have spine, knee or hip problem or are physically unfit should not go through it.
