Pekin Park District

Reviewed By 490irinag - Illinois, United States

The Pekin Park District is a very welcoming place to visit. The grounds are vast and incorporate over a dozen different parks - totalling 2,275 acres of land - that are all well planned and excellently maintained. It is really an impressive, well-developed system for proper recreation. There are several golf courses in this park system. A definite place to visit and enjoy would be a very attractive, 200-acres Mineral Springs Park and Lagoon, with fishing ramps and paddle boat ramps, numerous trails, kids playgrounds, various sports facilities, the historic Pavilion (built over hundred years ago), multiple picnic areas, concession stands ... The grounds and landscaping are beautiful, ample parking is available onsite, there are a lot of benches in shaded areas, under the huge trees - it's a perfect park for relaxation. The city of Pekin can undoubtedly be proud of Pekin Park District, that - for over 117 years - has been doing such a fantastic job for the community and visitors, who enjoy this beautiful park!

Mountain View Adventure Center

Reviewed By Allen21096 - Chicago, United States

We came to the Mountain View Adventure Center when my grandson was playing in Little League. Besides the miniature golf and the skateboard park, they also offer batting cages. There are actually 6 different batting cages: Cage 1 • Medium Baseball 45–55 m.p.h.; Cage 2 • Slow Baseball: 25–30 m.p.h. or Medium Softball: 50 m.p.h.; Cage 3 • Slow Baseball 25–30 m.p.h.; Cage 4 • Fast Baseball 55–60 m.p.h.; Cage 5 • Very Fast Baseball 70–80 m.p.h. or Hi-Arc Softball; Cage 6 • Slow Softball 35–40 m.p.h. You buy the tokens at the ticket office for the batting cages. Each token will get you 16 pitches. You can save money if you buy more tokens, i.e. 6 tokens for $5; 13 tokens for $10; 28 tokens for $20. They also have various sized bats and helmets. We found the batting cages to be a great learning experiences for honing those batting skills and just to have some fun.
