No value for money!

Reviewed By beajimenezbcs

The Hotel building is nice, the rooms are ok… it looks like it was refurbished but didn’t put much effort so some furniture is still old and the finishing are cheap. Rooms are big. Service is horrible, the staff behaves like they are doing you a favor. I was departing at 4:30am and they didn’t allow me to settle the bill one night in advance, I warned them that there were 6 people checking out at 4:30 nevertheless, the night shift girl was not informed or didn’t care and we couldn’t check our bill upon check-out; it’s like nobody cares about your needs literally. We asked for information about a boat tour and they immediately directed us to the web. Room service is outsourced and not available outside the office hours; also there was no menu printed or online so wouldn’t even bother the hassle; they just say there is room service just to have it in the checklist and charge more money, but no, practically there is no room service. Valet service is good and friendly. Overall there is a huge problem in the service especially in the front desk. There is absolutely no value for money, better to stay in 3 star hotel you get the same level of service.

A little slice of heaven, in Chicago!

I stayed at the Hotel Julian while on business in Chicago at Moody Seminary. The staff was outstanding, and super helpful. They helped me to navigate around Chicago and suggested two of my new favorite restaurants Portillo's for Chicago hotdogs and Giordano's for the best pizza I've ever eaten. The location is perfect and the people again were great at the Hotel Julian. My only regret, was that it didn't snow. Can't have everything ...?

Too noisy to sleep

Reviewed By Shopper A

I’m surprised at all the glowing reviews of this hotel. I could not sleep at all due to the noise. The first night we stayed in a third floor corner room with one wall backing up to the Roc Bar which had super loud music that kept me awake until 4 am despite using earplugs, noise-cancelling headphones, and a pillow over my head. The next day the front desk staff switched us another room but it was on the same floor, only two doors down, and faced Kinzie St. It was minimally quieter but the street noise came right through the windows. The bed was comfortable but the bathrooms are dark and definitely need to be updated. In the end we spent $1,700 for three nights at a hotel where I could not sleep. It was close to the attractions I was interested in visiting but the lack of sleep ruined the weekend. I don’t know if the price is due to post-covid inflation but this hotel did not feel like a good value at all and I will not stay there again.

No any prior communication and just been told to take the cab to a dif. hotel is a complete disaster in term of expectation management. We ended up not staying at all, and guess what, despite being promised we won't get charged, we got full 4 nights stay charge showed up in my credit. Still trying to reach accounting department and no one's answering email or calls, complete diester in term of customer service. BE AWARE!!

Poor quality

Reviewed By 4lakevalley

Small poor quality towels and linens, on an alley way, noise all night long, no view, small rooms, no maid service nor freshening of toiletries in a 4 night stay. We booked several months in advance to attend our sons graduation from U Chicago Law School and this was the room we were assigned. Very disappointing stay.
