We love coming to this place for a meal on the weekends and stay a week at a time, great for wine and for a few beers. The club is where the locals hang out, and although it's a small community, they are friendly and will make you feel welcome if you're out visiting the beach community of Riversdale. The shop is very helpful and have great coffee and fish and chips and great burgers etc. nice people come see all of us!!! And if you're a part-time resident like we are, you'll come to count on this place as being one of the social hubs of the village. They do meals on a Friday night, decent roasts, steaks or fish & chips. Nothing fancy, but out here that's all you want and all you need. That and a handle of beer or two...

The host of 12 New Zealand Opens, Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course has long been regarded by many as the spiritual home of New Zealand Golf. Some of the biggest names in the sport have graced these fairways, from Gary Player and five-time Open Championship winner Peter Thompson through to Corey Pavin, Michael Campbell and in 2002 the worlds number 1 golfer, Tiger Woods.Designed in 1949 by Alex Russell, whose design credits include the world-famous Royal Melbourne golf course, Paraparaumu Beach is considered one of the best links courses in the Southern Hemisphere. Modeled on some of the best links courses of Britain and Ireland, the challenging layout threads its way through magnificent linksland just north of Wellington, and once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand just why golf played at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course is golf at its purest.
Picked this out of the Golf digest 50 best GC in NZ. We went over to see my daughter and this time I had to take my clubs. We contacted the Pro who said a tournament was on over the entire weekend but got me on on Sundy morning. We started on the 10th a short par 4 nice and easy - perfect fairway - perfect greens and a early tribute to the absolute Links course this is. Some of the holes were so beautiful that you forgot how hard they really were. I found the guys in the Pro shop happy to help. I did not get a chance to pop into the club because we went to NZ to see my daughter and I took the morning off...But it was absolutely worthwhile. Make sure you play this course

Thank you Simon for a great intro to the game with the lesson and wonderful green to play. We did the 9 hole terrace course which was stretching for beginners but kept it fun and challenging! Fantastically priced and stunning grounds. Only thing to let it down was the food, but you don’t go to a golf course for lunch!

I am a local born and bred Wellingtonian. I started Wellington Golf Tours in 2019 to share my passion for golf, travelling, and meeting new and interesting people. On my own travels, I often walked away with a "what might have been" feeling and realised it had to do with the lack of a connection to the place. Therefore I wanted my golf tours to really showcase the beauty and uniqueness that Wellington can offer. That and have a great game of golf while we are at it!
