This review is for the campground. If you are a nature lover, you will love this campground. Absolutely beautiful. Private sites with lots of trees and shrubs between you and the next campers. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were adequate. If you choose the last loop of the campground, the sites will be right on the river. The middle loop's sites are on higher ground. They provide bear boxes for your food because there is a lot of wildlife in the campground. Firewood is provided there but nothing else (they do have water and a sink at the restrooms) so buy all your supplies before you get there. Walk right from your site to hiking trails. This place is a gem.

We love this park. There’s so much to do here. I ride my mountain bike through the woods ... fabulous trails. There’s also a paved road through the park, which would be a great way to get a wheelchair bound person out in nature. The wildlife we’ve seen includes owls, hawks, eagles, beavers, and even a bobcat. My wife and our Boston terrier, spends endless hours here alone. I feel they’re safe there. Great for families.

Mount Tom State Reservation

We had a homeschool field trip here with kids of various ages. Kids had fun fishing and running around in the grassy picnic area. We did the loop trail at Bray Lake. It’s an easy trail for kids. We even encountered a beaver home, snakes and turtles. The bathrooms were open. No entrance fee at this time. Please be advised, there are poisonous rattlers. If you see snakes just leave them alone.

Skinner State Park

Reviewed By BealgeTravels - Worcester, United States

This is a great hike for families with children, beginning hikers, avoiding ticks and hikes with your dog. You can either hike up the paved road or take the various trails through the woods. The trail to the top is not difficult (but a bit steep) and at the top there is plenty of places for picnics and opportunities for taking photos. For those wanting a longer distance, you can meet up with other trails to hike the Mt Holyoke Trail system. This is a very good starter trail system for younger children, or a good shorter hike if you don't have much time. Great views of the valleys, Mt Tom and beyond.

Holyoke Heritage State Park

Reviewed By dambanker - Toronto, Canada

I had time to kill and I found this park while walking around downtown Holyoke. Nice relaxing park to visit and I saw that the visitor's center was open. Inside it has the whole history of the town. It does and excellent job of explaining how the town was created and how the canal system works. I found this very interesting. They also have several displays to show the types of industries that existing here and how they utilized the canals. The gentleman working there stayed pass closing and was very knowledgeable and eager to talk about the town. There is a very old merry go round there but unfortunately it was closed during the week during this season. They also have a Children's Museum and the National Volleyball Hall of Fame there. I did not have time to visit either though. Very worthwhile visit and I recommend it if you want to relax and if you're interested in the local hisotry.

Lake Lorraine State Park

Nice place to go fishing if your from the area close to 5 mile pond. Also like to point out is in the Boston rd Commercial district area where there are over 12 restaurants to choose from Olive Garden, Golden Coral, etc. Titanic Museum is very near.
