What’s the Story? Peering up in awe at monolithic steel and glass towers, one can’t help but feel small. Capture that feeling in your photographs, juxtaposing tiny human forms against cold and sterile structures. Contrast the artificial and man-made with the organic—hints of nature and human life surrounded by the Tokyo metropolis. What We’ll Shoot We will learn how to create compelling images of architectural elements and the people that populate the city’s concrete environs. You’ll be coached on using composition concepts like leading lines, negative space, and juxtaposition. We’ll practice using these techniques to convey a variety of narratives. Where We’ll Explore Our journey will begin in Shiodome—a district walled in with glass and steel skyscrapers. From here we will head to Ginza, famed for its broad avenues lined with intricate examples of avant-garde architecture. Afterward, we will end up in Yurakucho where we will explore the innards of the monolithic Tokyo International Forum.

Inclusions: Professional Photography Instructor

We had a wonderful day with Takashi as our guide. We visited Arakura Sengen Park and Shrine, 4th Station, Wind and Ice Caves, Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway and Oishi Park. We were very lucky and got to see Mt. Fuji all day. Takashi was very knowledgeable about all sites and the history of Japan and we would highly recommend this tour.

With a large family of kids of all ages, I did not think this was the best tour to join but being a parent who wanted to show his kids all aspects of Japanese life, we turned up with trepidation. Kazui not only made us feel welcomed, we all actually learnt a lot! We didn't have time to attend any kabuki shows but we bought a dvd with Kazui's help and you can bet that we will get more out watching it now with what we have learnt. Arigato Gozeimas Kazui.

Tony was an exceptional guide for the day. We had planned and booked for a specific day. Tony contacted us a couple of days before and told us the weather was not going to be great but was willing to take us a day earlier when the weather and viewing would be much better. I can't say I have ever had that happen! He picked us up in a very comfortable vehicle which made the day's travel very easy. The itinerary he planned gave us views of the mountain from pretty much all sides and from places not nearly as many people go to. His insight about the area and the history was tremendous and added greatly to the day. We really could not have asked for anything more in a tour like this and I would not hesitate to recommend him fully to anyone

Kabuki performances tend to be about 4 hours long and often involve long queues for one-act tickets, so before you go to all that effort, join this tour of the Kabuki-za Gallery and learn everything you need to know about Kabuki! The tour begins with a "What is Kabuki?" talk over Japanese tea and sweets at a tea shop with rooftop garden before exploring the Kabuki-za Gallery. Your guide, Kazui, will show you her precious 150 year old woodblock prints! At the gallery, you will be shown props and costumes used for the shows and enjoy short films of Kabuki performances. There are hands-on activities such as a chance to play the classical instruments. This will give you a wonderful experience if you are unable to attend a live performance. Taking photos and video is allowed. Finally, we will visit a special Kabuki souvenir and Japanese traditional craft shops! If you are interested in shopping for books in English or woodblock prints of Kabuki, please send your requests in advance.

Inclusions: Kabuki-za Gallery ticket, -Japanese or western sweets -Guests may choose one drink from the menu. There are several kinds of Japanese tea (Matcha, sencha, hojicha etc.), coffee, tea etc.

Exclusions: Kabuki show ticket

Really liked this tour. The theatre is easy to find by yourself using the train to Ginza. Kazui broke down the acts of the show into simple terms with handouts and made it easier to understand the storylines. She also gives you a history of Kabuki theatre and directions on where your seat is, renting a translation device, and the best times to enjoy bento and taiyaki. I would definetely recommended this tour to all theatre lovers. Make sure you buy your tickets really early because the English site is a bit confusing and says the tickets are sold out even when there are still seats left or else you need a Japanese friend to call to reserve a seat for you like I did haha

We chose Tokyo Bleisure Trip for a private tour of the live tuna auction at Toyosu Market followed by a food walk of the old Tsukiji Market. Takashi was a warm, friendly and informative guide. From timely prior communication to sharing restaurant/sightseeing recommendations afterwards, it was a pleasure interacting with him from start to finish. Takashi met us at our hotel and we promptly started our tour at 5 AM. We first headed to the new wholesale fish market, Toyosu Market, and viewed the auction from the upper observation deck. Takashi patiently explained the entire process and shared some interesting facts and figures about the auction. Being Christmas eve, we were lucky to witness the auction on one of the busiest days of the year, where thousands of tuna were up for sale. This was followed by an omasake sushi breakfast at the famous Daiwa restaurant. We ended the tour with a food walk of the old Tsukiji fish market, where we savoured local street snacks like daifuku, taiyaki, karage and tamogoyaki. Takashi even helped us purchase local spices and Japanese pottery. A great experience overall and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo! Tip: Plan at least one month in advance if you would like to view the auction from the lower observation deck. Make sure to reach on time, or the auction will get over within half an hour on the days with less catch.
