"Gorny Vozdukh" is one of the fastest growing ski resorts in the Far East. The unique location - in the heart of the capital of the Sakhalin region, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city - allows guests be in the center of winter sports very quickly. My wife and i went there with a tour out of Vladivostock and it was really worth going. We were worried that we would see cramped cages, suffering animals etc but instead we saw great scientific facilities, keeping amazing animals in their natural environment, lots of happy animals that were rescued and are now kept in very good conditions. Tigers, black bears, deer, elk, boar, birds! Tour guides Rada and Sergei from Explore Primorye were very knowledgeable and spoke fluent English, we got all the interesting bits and including a very good lunch.
