The Taggy Man

'The Taggy Man is an independently owned pub selling great cask ales, premium lagers, wines and and a top selection of gins and spirits. Hot bar food served every day. Dogs are very welcome with well behaved owners .'

Great old fashioned but new pub. Friendly staff and a good selection of ales. Got here on Monday quiz night and only got a table as one team cancelled Quiz wasn't too hard although the quiz masters jokes were atrocious. Really enjoyed the night.

The Strickland Arms

Reviewed By gemmaxi - Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

My family and I have just returned from an overnight stay at The Strickland Arms. We stayed in a log cabin which was ideal for us and our small dog. The cabin was cozy and absolutely spotless. Upon arrival Penny and her lovely husband (sorry I can’t remember your name) were very welcoming. They serve the most amazing food and I highly recommend just popping in for food alone if your in the area. We had a lovely meal along with a few drinks before going to bed after a long days hike. The following morning we were treat to an extensive breakfast ready for the day ahead. Cannot rate this place enough, lovely hosts, fab food and comfortable clean accommodation. What more could you ask for? We will be back.

Fell

Craft beer and real ale bar owned and operated by Fell Brewery selling Fell favourites alongside guest beers across 8 keg and 6 cask lines. We also have an extensive range of bottles and cans in the fridge alongside premium, organic wines, artisan spirits and traditional ciders.

This is a little gem in Penrith. Arguably the best pub there if you're after real ale and something a little different. We tried the rhubarb cider and a magnificent porter that clocked in at 10% with salted caramel and raspberry. Great WiFi and a nice spot to chill out with some great beers.

On Behalf of Evans Halshaw Renault, We had a great time and have taken so much away from this experience and skills that will stay with us for life. A big Thanks to Dave & Darren for making our experience a memorable one! The weather was against us but their quick thinking and change of location meant our planned activity could go ahead. As a Team this has definitely made us closer and think about the way we plan our work and involve others. I would highly recommend this activity and would not hesitate to recommend Happy Days :)

Sandford Arms Appleby

Reviewed By ManchesterExplorers - Manchester, United Kingdom

This hotel is situated in a very small village in Sanford near Appleby. The hotel is not very big but quaint, the room we stayed in was quiet large as it had a child's bed in as well as a king sized bed. It was clean as was the bathroom with lots of hot water. There is a bar and a small restaurant, we stayed two days and ate there both evenings. The food was very good and plenty of it. For breakfast you have a very good choice and my husband had the Cumbrian breakfast both mornings which was huge. There is some really pretty villages to visit and some good walking near by. This is a great place stay for a few days if you like being away from it all.

The hotel is lovely and cosy and staff can't do enough to make sure you have a nice stay. We have been coming to the George Hotel for the last 15 years and this is one of our favourite places to stay. We enjoy seeing familiar staff faces each time we visit and this says alot about a place. This place is highly recommended and often we will have family gatherings here.and the staff will go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect.
