Tucked between Stanstead and Ayer’s Cliff, just five minutes from the border, Verger Heath is a two-century-old, family-owned heritage farm and orchard. Spend hours wandering through thousands of full-grown standard trees in dozens of classic and hard-to-find varieties—including MacIntosh, Cortland, Honeycrisp, Empire, Sunrise, Golden Russett, Kerr Crabapples, Wealthy and Bancroft —all surrounded by sunsets atop rolling hills. After you’ve filled your basket, visit The Stand to peruse handmade pottery, fresh veggies from the garden, jams and jellies, local mushrooms and the famous Heathen Hot Sauce (if you dare!).
