Things to do in Durness, Scotland: The Best Art Galleries

September 4, 2021 Flossie Demartino

If you’re hungry for a remote vacation in a stunning Scottish Highland, Durness is your perfect destination. Check out the seawater cum freshwater marvel of Smoo Cave, which features a waterfall and active marine life, including porpoises and seals. The northern sand dunes are a whirlwind of puffin activity. Durness was of particular significance to John Lennon, and supposedly inspired the Beatles song "In My Life."

Lotte Glob Sculpture Croft

Reviewed By johnsjorgensen - Scottsdale, United States

We were staying at Croft 103 which is on the north side of the village of Laid. Lotte is a very talented and creative artist. She has over the years populated her 14 acres with some of her art work. You are free and encouraged to wander the Croft and be surprised and amused at the artwork she has placed and hidden here and there in the vegetation. Well worth the trip and ti,e to wander.

We visited the Craft Village a number of times during our stay in Durness. We really enjoyed eating at the Meet and Eat, and getting coffee and treats at the Cocoa Mountain Cafe. A number of neat, little shops.
